PeteLFan, I highly recommend you stop watching Stampeders games. You clearly do not enjoy the game and it seems to be making you quite angry regardless of whether the Stamps win, or lose.

They still could have won this game with better play-calling. They start a drive outside of 3 minutes left, rip off a few running plays which the Bombers show no signs of stopping, take it into their territory, then try a bunch of passes which go nowhere except for a couple gifted penalties. Sometimes I think Dickenson outsmarts himself, there's nothing wrong with continuing what is working when the opposition has no answer to it.
Anyway, they beat themselves with holding penalties. You can't drive the football when you're trying to get 20 yards instead of 10 all the time.

Yea, I was not a fan of the play calling in the red zone there, they had lots of time left to continue running the ball.

the playcalling late in the game cost us. As others have mentioned, why didn't we keep running the ball late in the game? The only thing that was stopping our run was our own holding penalties. We're 1st and 10, drop back to pass...sacked, but negated on a (sketchy and lucky) illegal contact penalty. So instead of running it next time, we drop back to pass and Bo runs it out of bounds for a 4 yard loss...he was too nervous to even throw the ball away because it was so slippery. Once you're 2nd and 14 your hands are tied on the plays you can run and predictably it was 2 incompletions to essentially end it.
Refs missed the helmet-to-helmet at the end of the game, but I doubt it would have helped. After this game and our last cold weather game (The Western final last year) I am not too confident in our ability to hold onto the ball when the mercury dips.

At this point in the season, and given the circumstances, I would rather lose a game when we play badly than find a way to pull out a win. Ensures the mistakes won't happen again; shows that a win must be earned by playing good football, not just good-enough football.
Injuries are obviously a concern; we'll need Cornish for the West Final and Price in the GC (if they make it). Just short of three weeks to get everyone healthy, with one game left to play before they really matter. I still like their chances -- all it takes is two more wins to get a ring.
PS: For all the play-calling concerns -- these are meaningless games so there's no incentive to dip into the bag of tricks so to speak. Probably pretty vanilla on both sides of the ball...

From the post-game interviews it looks like Cornish should be okay -- kept out for precautionary reasons. No update yet on Mo Price though.

If you break down the numbers, this team is inferior to Edmonton in a lot of ways, especially on defence which has seemed to be the story this season. Teams are completing almost 10% more passes against us. 55% completions against by the Eskimos is a huge statistic as this was one of the big factors when we won the grey cup.
The Stamps are a terrible passing team, and a team that leans primarily on the run to get us going. Being a running team you would think the time of possession would be in our favour by a larger margin then 1 minute.
Another huge and concerning stat is the awful season by Paredes which could cost us a tight game in a playoff game. He is kicking at 71% while Edmonton is at 85%.
Calgary and Edmonton are almost equal in yards per game on offence, but Edmonton is by far the better defensive team. Plus scoring wise the ppg is almost even.
Why compare us to Edmonton? That is the team we likely face in the West Final. This team has been humiliated the last two times in the west final at home, and that seems to be the case again.
Penalties are show a lack of effort especially holding calls, and we had way to many today. Turnovers and penalties have been the undoing of this team, and they seems to be getting right into the habit of it again.
We may be 14-3 but we have not been a dominating team, and have not imposed our will on teams. We have more talent then the entire league, yet the offence sputters so much. So many talented weapons, and we play pedestrian football. This team should be steam rolling other teams, but we haven't and we will find out if they have the heart, desire and balls to compete like men this time around.
Also to be fair Edmonton isn't killing it in terms of time of possession either, but the defence seems to get the ball back.

Not sure what West Final you're watching, but the 2014 CFL West Final is actually currently 0 - 0, and will remain that way for a few weeks.

Calgary has easily beaten Edmonton in all 3 games they have played, had a much better record than them so far in 17 games played and have lost one game by a point, one game without their two best players (and likely the two best players in the league) and one that meant nothing and yet Calgary should be worried about Edmonton?
Sure anything can happen in a one game play-off but there is nothing that indicates Edmonton to close as a good team as Calgary, let alone a better team.
I get that your schtick is to hate the Stamps and whine about how bad they are but pretty ridculous to try to pump up a team that has lost 3 games to the Stamps this year with two of those at home.

I don't hate the Stamps, I want the grey cup so bad, but this team has been a failure year in and year out. They should easily have been a dynasty, but they lack the fortitude in the playoffs. Its not like we compete hard either, we have been handily beat by that garbage team in Saskatchewan.

We were beat last year by them, debatable whether it was handily or not. Then in 2010 at home we lost by four. Hardly an embarrassing loss.
Sure the Stamps should have more GC's recently and in the 90's but that seems like a poor reason to think they will lose to the weaker Esks at home this year.

I'm with PeteLFan here. I'll be watching and hoping I'm wrong, but my faith-o-meter is on low when it comes to the Stamps. Too many good teams not getting the job done when it counts, in my lifetime, and even in the last few seasons.
Also, the Eskimos were without their #1 QB in all three games against us this season IIRC.

So why don't you wait until the post-season instead of being a wet blanket? Not really directing this all at you, just funny when the Stamps have been great all year and then they lose a meaningless game, the complainers show up.

Again seems like a silly reason to think that a worse team will beat a better team based on what other teams, with different players have done in the past but had the same logo did, but to each their own.

Yeah that's right, Reilly was in the first game.
Edit: Not wanting to be a "wet blanket" just been disappointed too many times as a Stamp fan in the post season, so I have a hard time getting my hopes up anymore. Doesn't matter how good they are or how inferior the other team may be.
