This is good for several reasons -
Less of a chance at a top 3 pick
Think they are better than they are
Other teams won't take them too lightly
Other teams won't start backups against them.

Top team in the East, top 8 team in the west (same as Tampa).
The only eastern conference teams you could debate are top five teams in the league are Boston and Pittsburgh; but I'd still probably take Chicago, LA, St Louis, San Jose, and Anaheim over all of them.
