I saw it too.. I didn't think it was overly malicious of Burrows, but careless on is part to come down with his stick like that. Then again Burrows is a total ######bag. I figured that was why Wideman was so slow to get up and not the hit itself.

When Hartley was asked about giving Russell the A, he mentioned that it this team has many leaders, but it has to be someone that is always on the ice. He specifically hinted that it shouldn't be someone who is playing 8min a night.

Based on the Vancouver game I am actually starting to think the same way you do. Bollig and Stajan played very well, so I can almost see this line used as a shutdown line with some increased responsibility. Its a huge leap to make based on only one game though...

As for the Oilers, I think it will be a fun game to watch with lots of scoring. Lets just hope the Flames get their feet under them quickly in this one.

Seems like that is his real account. Quite the comments there from Feaster if it really is him.

These changes don't really come as too much of a surprise especially this early. We have to see how everyone does in game situations. I find myself actually wanting Jones to play really well just to silence some of the critics around here
I've been a bit of a critic but I would love for Jones to play well. Can't think of a reason any Flames fans that wouldn't want him to play really well. As with Wideman the Flames are stuck with Jones so the best outcome is for both of these guys to play better and become part of the solution.

Or boost their trade value. Wideman is a guy that, if he puts together a solid campaign, should be tradeable at some point.

Yeah, it's just trade value. Those guys aren't "part of the solution" no matter what. They're just "guys that were here for a while"

3 more seasons at $5.25M... that some point might be a ways off (unless the Flames eat some salary)...

This is the forward lineup I'd like to see in tonight's game

Gaudreau-Monahan-Hudler
Glencross-Backlund-Byron
Raymond-Stajan-Colborn
Bollig-Bouma-Jones

Edit: Posted this before reading Red Menace's post.... so we agree on the lineup.

Really looking forward to my first #Sportsnet tonight between the Flames and Oilers with Remenda, Quinn and Principe.
Ugh. Since the game is airing nationally, I was hoping we'd get a national play-by-play team and not be forced to listen to the Oilers crew.

Aaron Vickers @AAVickers
“I’m not a banker, I’m a coach.” - Bob Hartley on sitting Dennis Wideman, who makes the most on the #Flames at $5.25 million.

Hartley might become the most quotable person in the NHL this year. Move over Strombone1.

After that hit, I suspect it is a bit more than just humiliation. Not an injury, per se, but still good to get him some rest.

Also, who would have guessed all those years ago when Sport Scope launched all those days ago as a text-only TV scoreboard that it would someday be broadcasting NHL games nationally?

Ugh Quinn and Principe make hockey broadcasts unwatchable.

I have to watch the game tonight, but I might have to jam my face into the lawn mover by the third period to end my pain..

Yeah this year's broadcasting is a mystery to me. Last year you knew if you were getting Kerr & Simmer, TSN guys or CBC guys. This year...???

Glencross - Monahan - Colborne
-Successful combo of Mony/Colborne reunited, Glenx is an oil killer, all big bodies to shut down the kiddie line

Gaudreau - Backlund - Hudler
-Backlund was the best possession center in the last half of the game, Gaudreau needs that kind of center on his line, Hudler can keep up with Gaudreau's plays, high potential for offense

Raymond - Stajan - Byron
-Speed, with solid veteran center presence, can probably create some odd man rushes. Byron can be bumped up if top lines struggle to produce

Bollig - Bouma - Jones
-Jones can also earn his way up the lineup if he performs well

Those would be my lines.
