Holy crapola was that a fun game to be at. Was on the Jumbotron (when it worked) about 10 times tonight!! Love that they focussed on my Jets fan friend and I singing Friends in Low PLaces.
Johnny G is here to stay. Damn he is so slick.

Went to the game tonight. Monahan has pretty much assumed the role as the Flames go to guy already, looks confident, strong, and like a leader. Rookie campaign was no fluke.
Gaudreau, what can you say? His skills and intelligence are elite. He really took over the shifts on the Jooris goals. Not sure how Johnny Hockey can't be on the big team come October 8th.
Some nice signs from Bennet as well. I'm a bit concerned Sven isn't quite finding his way, needs to get a bit of swagger back.
But all in all, our pool of young players is pretty damn impressive.

Gotta stop taking this approach. Johnny doesn't have any haters on CP... literally, not a single one. The total opposite.
We all just want what is absolutely best for him. Approaching the pre-season, I was of the opinion (and I believe Flames staff was too) that Johnny should spend some time in the AHL, like all players should... UNLESS he plays out of this world and is one of our top players, in each game he dresses. He's done just that, and so he'll make the team, and none of us could be happier!
Sorry, should have said doubters, skeptics, or naysayers..... I think you got my point. Still sticking with my .85 ppg since signing day

I'd love it if Jooris made the roster. They could stick him on a line with Gaudreau and just have him bank shots in off of Jooris once a game while Jooris shoite disturbs his way through the rest of his ice time.
Think we need to give Jooris some credit on that goal too. Johnny made a great play but Jooris showed decent hands and great patience to actually walk that puck out front.
Lots of guys just try to jam that in short side.

One of the most beautiful, creative and unexpected plays from along the boards resulting in a goal that I've ever seen. No exaggeration. 0.1% of players would have the brains, speed and hands to do that when being converged on by two players.
JG is in Kane, Datsyuk etc echelon of elite skill.

Agreed. This kid just keeps giving more and more reasons to believe the hype.

Just got back from the game and was very impressed with some players. I was paying more attention to John Gaudreau and Sam Bennett and I was not dissapointed. Gaudreau looks strong with the puck and I love both his assist. The first one was when he made a fool of a Jets player then passed the puck to Sean Monahan. His play behind the net on Jooris 2nd goal was pretty good. Of course that was a good pass by Sam Bennett on Jooris.
Josh Jooris is making Hartley decision tougher. He seems like the puck is following this guy. I like his work ethic.
It was funny that I didn't even notice Setoguchi is on the lineup until I saw him on the Jumbotron late in the game. The same goes to Sven Baertschi. I was about to tell my friend that I would have love to see Baertschi play as well. The only reason I know he was playing was when he had that penalty late in the game also and McGrattan got a penalty 2 minutes + 10 minutes misconduct. I have no idea what Big Ern did to get those penalties.
I thought Karri Ramo was pretty good when challenged. He didn't faced a lot of shots but he was sharp. So, Gaudreau and Jooris are making the coaching staff decision difficult tonight. Based on their game tonight, I would think both of them should make the team but I know the coaching staff will not based on their decision on one game. Maybe with Backlund, Jones and Raymond being out on injuries, Gaudreau, Jooris and Bennett might get a taste of the NHL early in the season. I like to see Sven make it too but it might be tough to get all 4 guys.
Good win and i really enjoyed watching the game live.
5 guys get hypnotized by Johnny and leave Jooris 1-on-1 with the goalie. Saw that a lot when he was in College last year, looks like he can do it in the big league too.

I think Johnny is just what the Flames need to heighten fan interest during this rebuild period. He will also probably end up drawing a lot of fans on the road.
Definitely have to be excited about Gaudreau. He belongs on the team. Consistently produces chances.
I wish Sven would try to do more out there. I'm worried that they have coached the creativity out of him a bit. There are going to be other guys better at making safe plays and backchecking, he needs to be a threat. Maybe some more time in the AHL will give him a chance to be a top line guy and get that offense back.
Setoguchi should not make the opening roster. He just doesn't accomplish anything out there. He looks like a guy who lost his confidence and without it he's not doing much. I'd much rather they give the spot to Jooris and see if he can keep this going.
Russell was really good. Wideman had a pretty good game too. If he plays like that, he helps the team.
I really like Ramo's game. He got lucky on a couple today, but made some great saves and looked very stable.
Monahan is getting better and better and he looks like he's gaining the confidence that he doesn't have to take crap from anyone.
Really having fun watching this team (other than the 2nd period.... that was terrible).

I think Jooris will be an NHL player. He's had 2 great pre-seasons now, and I bet can translate his style effectively to any level of play.
I'm gonna be straight up, I want to see Jooris on the third line on the right side. He's been twice the player Seto has through the preseason and was great throughout the penticton tournament as well. I'd trust this kid to give his all every night crashing the net and getting shots on goal, whereas I can't say the same for Setoguchi and Jones. Although to be fair seto was very strong on the puck early on, best play I've seen from him until now.

Ramo definitely held his own and on a few shifts he allowed the Flames to not fall behind when it was a 1 and 2 zip game still. Made some real key stops. Glad Hiller is going to be the #1 but Ramo proved to Hartley he is going to a reliable backup if he continues to play like that.
