He has been doing that.

But I agree with you.
I say get McGrattan to teach him how to beat the piss out of all the middleweight guys in the league.

Who would see that coming!?!

I understand being strong on the puck, and competing, but why ask him to be physical? You aren't asking Gaudreau to be physical, so why ask Sven?

There has to be some miscommunication here.

I always see Sven trying to throw big hits and that's not what he should be doing. YES he should be competing in scrums for the puck and being strong on his skates and not give up the puck easily, but throwing hits just shouldn't be part of his duties.

Agreed. I feel like Sven has been trying to play a game that he's not really built for in the NHL. It's just a recipe for injury for him, he should be learning how to play a smart physical game and not just try to charge into guys and take himself out of the play.

I am not sure it's what he's been coached into doing or whether it's just the game he played in the WHL and now he's trying to do the same stuff in the NHL where he's playing against bigger and stronger competition. He's not small but he's small by NHL standards still.

I think he's taking coaches feedback and trying to do everything he can to make the team. Even if those things are stupid (in our opinion)

Guys, the coaches don't have a nefarious plan to make Baertschi a mucker. I promise. If he wants to play like a crazy jerk, that's a useful attribute to have, we've lacked those.

Jets have some superior pieces in their top 6 for sure, but like us don't have a defined first line that can compete with the big western teams.

I think we have an edge in depth tonight. But that Kane - Schifele - Ehlers line is going to be hard to contain.

Interestingly, they have Ehlers playing on the right wing instead of his usual left side. Ehlers does look like one of those players who could line up anywhere, though.

Isn't this game on Centre Ice, which is a free preview right now?

Where Baertschi has had troubles is winning puck battles along the boards. I was hoping he'd learn to use his puck skills to win like Hudler does but Sven has approached it a little differently. The thing is he's now winning some of these battles and maybe he'll now focus on putting it all together.

For those with Shaw, it looks like the game is on Ch 351.

EDIT: It looks like it may be blacked out in Alberta, though.
