Was playing on and off for a month or so and now I'm in the "mid-game" where things are picking up. Idling to about level 550, getting about 1.5k souls per ascend where I can spend on a whole bunch of stuff. Now I find myself "playing" more and more.

Just finished a run into level 384 and ascended a couple times since then, the rate of hero soul accumulation has gone up quite a bit. I can get to level 200 in about an hour after ascending and ascend again for 17 - 20 souls. Gong to save up a few souls and do another big run soon

I am playing. Just hit Level 1000 last night and got it again this morning.

The thing that pushed me over was the ancient that reduces refresh times on powers and then extending power surge. Pretty much means I can power surge almost continually.

That and focusing all gilds on samurai and just leveling him.

I'm kind of waiting to get all of the power related ancients that extend how long they last, and then leveling them up together. I've gotten this far mostly on leveling up my idling ancients, and gold ancients. I have my guilds spread around because it's a pain getting them all on one guy. I've got 6 characters I try to land my guilds on now, the rest are guilded 3 times.

My Ancients are these:

Dogcog (hiring costs -50%), maxed
Fortuna (10% chance ot 10x gold) Maxed
Mammon, Level 60, 300% increae in gold
Libertas Level 30, +717 gold when idle
Chronos Level 14, +70 seconds to boss timers ( I leveled him too much, but I wanted the time to be even)
Kumawkamru, Maxed. -5 mosters required to get to new level
Vaagur, Maxed, -75% on all skill cooldowns.
Berserker, +60s Power Surge duration

Between Vaagur, who makes my power surge refresh 2:30 and Berserker who makes the duration 1:30, it is pretty much constantly on when I am not idle and just want to push forward in levels. It lasts for my entire boss fights. This is the key for me to move forward.

I want to get the Lucky Strikes one as well, which should tear through most bosses.

From ascending, takes me about 20 minutes to have all heroes at level 200, and Samarai at level 1000.

Right now I am 50 minutes since last ascension, and at level 530 with level 1700 samuari

edit: just picked up the Idle damage increase and lucky strikes ancients and leveled them to 30. cost me a mint in souls though as new ancients are 2200 for me right now.

My next ancient is going to cost me 25,000 souls. I've been playing 35 minutes since my last ascension, and am at level 927. My heroes range in levels from 1925 to 2700.

Looks like you are well ahead of me!

Main thing that would impact your ability to move forward is Berserker and Chronos. Get them both to 90 seconds and you should be able to get past more bosses.

These 2 are ones I never considered, didnt think they were worth it. For some reason I never thought about how they would work leveled up.

I'm ascending usually between level 970 and 1030 right now, and I'm usually ascending with 10K-18K hero souls each time.

I only use an auto clicker when my powerups are in use.

Yeah, I just use a clicker when I do my power ups, mainly for golden clicks, which I use twice every 15 mins unless I am doing my dark ritual.

It just occurred to me that at that level, you're only idle with Beserker for a minute at a time. It negates any idling ancients you have.

Yeah, it was a concern for me as well, but I am idle for more often than I am using powers, so I still have them around. Mostly that is how I push forward as far as possible while I am playing, then idle while I work etc

At what point is it best to stop hoarding hero souls and level ancients? I only have 35 hero souls so I'm sure it's a long ways away right now.

From what I've read, and based on my play, I wouldn't start buying ancients until you have at least 50 souls. I found I progressed fastest when I started spending after that point, but I made sure I only spent about half of the souls I earned.

I spent my first 100 souls on Morgulis, which was a bad idea, but I think having 50-100 banked would be a very good starting point before starting to spend them on ancients.

Why is Morgulis a bad idea? Unless you chose him over Siyalatis, and even then it's not so bad. Morgulis is easily my most invested Ancient. My only other two are Mammon and Siyalatis, but the optimizer always wants the lions share of my souls in Morgulis.
