And this kinda hits the nail on the head. 95% of my Apple loyalty is admittedly based on complacency and comfort zone. I have learned the iOS system in and out, and it just comes naturally. I can delve into the most advanced features and settings of it now without blinking an eye. And I really don't want to learn something new. When Apple updates stuff, it is usually pretty subtle, and you only have to learn a couple new things. They never make massive changes.
That and having pretty much my entire circle of family and friends running iOS/Mac you can maximize all the iOS/OSX exclusive features like FaceTime and iMessage with them. Not all people have Skype on their phones.
And lol at the dishwasher hate. I was just making an obscure example of a app that could be useful. You are sitting at work, and are having company that night. "Crap, did I turn on the dishwasher last night?" Or you are out at the movies "Crap, did I close the garage door?" A huge one which I believe is already capable with nest, is turning on your A/C an hour or so before you leave work. Not only saves you money, but is environmentally friendly as well. These are the coming features that get me excited.

There is not one thing ground breaking about this new phone. Like many Android users have pointed out, everything is a re-hash of something Android has already done. But these people are acting like they just discovered plutonium, by accident. It's embarrassing.

So a question for the phone enthusiasts in here:
I think I'm going to look at grabbing a new phone soon (I'm currently on the Samsung Galaxy S3). This phone actually does far more than I need it to but the one thing Ive always found lacking, compared to my old Iphone 3GS -- music playback. I've tried a variety of music player apps, and none of them do gapless playback, and options for headphones with controls seem to be really limited. I tend to use my smartphone as an Ipod becuase I walk to and from work every day, but its a PITA to take the phone out of my pocket whenever I want to change tracks or take a call.
Are the newer android phones any better as music players, or is it still an afterthought? The biggest draw for me to go back to Iphone is its also a full fledged Ipod with all the benefits. Which is unfortunate, becuase I think for most other features I actually prefer android.

There were lineups for the Samsung S5. Just ask these guys lol:
Life's too short to worry about what everyone else thinks of me just because I use a certain kind of phone, or even dumber what someone thinks of me because of what was said in some marketing material for my phone (Lol OMG a company marketing their product thinks their product is the best product, well duh what are they going to say, our product is terrible but buy it anyway??), or sillier yet what someone thinks of me because of what other people who happen to have the same phone say or do.
EDIT: Lineups for preorders for new Pokemon 3DS games Though that is Japan.

I need to get over myself because I think it's lame people are getting so worked up over a phone? Wasting multiple days of their lives sitting in their own filth just so they can be the first to have a phone I can walk into a store 30 days from now, and just pull off the shelf?
I didn't know opinions on a message board, who's discussions are primarily fuelled by opinions made one 'full of themselves'.
I wouldn't even act that juvenile if someone dropped a brand new Ferrari for free in my driveway. Some people have restraint.

^ In fairness to pylon, it does look really goddamn stupid from the perspective of an outside observer. You bought a phone, you didn't win the lottery. Quit jumping around like a loon.
On another somewhat related note, it's bad enough that photon and pylon both spell their usernames with a small 'p' and end with 'on', but now with their avatars being so damn close, it's making it really hard to read threads quickly and not get the two mixed up.

Fixed.
I was confusing myself there....lol
It was however fitting. photon had the clean, crisp concise version of the logo. I had the messy, sloppy, train wreck version. Much like our posts.

But of course, you are the restrained mature one and must realize not all have the sophistication you have acquired through your years of Wiser Club Memberships.
To say others behave "juvenile" when their actions don't match that of yours is in its self juvenile.

Camping in a gutter, and sleeping in a garbage bag for 4 days to get a phone, are not the actions of a mature, well adjusted, adult. There is no debate about that.

Google Play Music is great.
In terms of devices maybe an HTC One? Know they've taken music much more seriously.

Music is great with Google Play. You also get the choice of other music players if that suits your preference. iTunes music can also be synced to your phone using Google's Music Manager. It'll scan your iTunes folder and the music will just show up on your Google Play Music account once you set it up. I did exactly that when I migrated my music collection over.
I hear poweramp is great for gapless.

An honest question, how do you change tracks on the ipod? Is there headphone controls I have never seen?
I use Google Play music and quite like it but I lean more towards Pandora/Songza/Rdio now than my own library. I also long press on the volume buttons to skip back and forth on tracks.

The One M8 is awesome for music. Not only are the speakers amazing, but even headfi tests show that it's probably the best phone to listen to using headphones.
I second FlameOn's recommendation of Power amp. It does gapless really well.

LOL, I wasn't suggesting taking it THAT far.
But they will suffer post traumatic embarrassment syndrome a few years from now, when they look at those pictures, and realize how worked up they got over a phone.

Apple earpods (that comes with their iphones) have headset controls built in, and I think they are pretty decent earbuds (I actually use a set with my S3). You can skip tracks, control volume, and take calls on an Iphone. I can actally skip tracks on android with them but its buggy and laggy, sometimes songs seem to freeze up when I do it.
My Galaxy S3 came with a similar set of earbuds but they sound atrocious, I don't like them at all. And I haven't ever seen an alternative either, seems like 3rd party accessories are pretty limited compared to what gets made for Iphone.

Maybe this has been asked already, but here is a question for the Apple people:
Are you really OK with paying a premium for a "technically" inferior product? I speaking entirely about the specs. RAM, processors, pixels, etc.
I guess what bothers me the most is that Apple sells a product for twice, sometimes 3 times, as much as the competition, but the technical specs are on par with devices from 2 years ago.
Someone posted a comparison of the Nexus 4 (2 years old) vs. the iPhone 6. Yes, I am aware that the OS probably makes up for it, but it just boggles my brain.
Dropping over $1000 for a device, when you can get one that has technically better specs for half, if not a third of that cost, is insane...in my opinion.
I'm not anti-Apple. I'm anti-people-getting-screwed-in-the-wallet-by-great-marketing...or so it seems.
