Even fashion watches like Nixon's and Guess watches run around $3-500. A 'real' swiss made, tool automatic starts at around $2000 and averages around $6000, and you keep it your entire life. Certainly not for everyone, but that's what a true luxury watch runs. $350 is pretty reasonable, and that is the point I was trying to make. I have a Casio Protrek ABC watch I paid $350 for. And that is the market these smart watches are going to obliterate. But only when they are solar powered and never need dock charging like the traditional ABC watches available now. If they go solar, I would be all over one as a great camping/fitness device.

When you compare the Note edge to the Apple 6 plus it looks like Samsung is a generation ahead now with Apple trying to catch up on features like iPay.
I want a watch strictly for notifications. When you get hundreds of emails and text messages a day pulling your phone out constantly is a little annoying. I am on call 24/7 so weekends at the park or what not are the worst for stopping and having to check whats going on, a quick who called/emailed/texted me is all I need to determine if I respond.
I agree the aesthetics are lacking in most/all smart watches.
I would like to see the watch work independant of the pone. Have a little speaker for voicing text messages and make it blue tooth compatible if you want to make phone calls and toss in the antenna.
And most importantly make it look much better. Maybe like the fit bit where it could snap into different bands that then could be designed properly instead of these ugly things.
I thought that, too until I got my N4. Now I think 4.7 is a good compromise. The only part of the screen I have trouble reaching is the top right and I have pretty stubby thumbs. The thinness should also help it not feel too large in your pocket.
Not quite. Limited release this Christmas I think but you are right that it might take until the iphone 7 is realeased before the note edge is in wide supply.
The NFC thing makes me laugh. A friend of mine (who is an Apple fanatic) won't accept that there is such a thing as the Apple effect, where Apple will release a feature that has existed for some time but will start seeing rapid adoption simply because Apple has released it. NFC payments have been around since WP8 and earlier versions of Android. At least two years, in other words. But now that Apple has it, we'll start seeing more widespread adoption.

That watch costs more than your car.

The thing is that more people will be able to identify that $350 watch at a glance than will recognize that you or I wear a $15,000 watch to work. Plus the sheer popularity of the item and presumably the inability to track a stolen one like you can a mobile phone.

I feel like an absolute baller when I wear my $1200 Seiko Marinemaster to work.

I don't discriminate. All I'm saying is that your Seiko is less recognizable to the general public than the latest iDevice craze, making the iWatch more of a target.

And, everything else being equal, you less of a target. Ballers should be pleased!
I'll never consider an E-watch unless they come out in a traditional, stainless steel, divers style design. No matter how you dress up an E-watch, they are still horrendously dorky like a Star Wars or Lego watch.
This is the Motorola 360, I hope the trend for smart watches is more towards this then the more square tech look companies like LG, Samsung, and Apple have gone for.
It's not perfect but it's a step in the right direction for a wearable device.

I love that we are finally starting to see more watches and more importantly features for them, I'm still going to wait a few years before this technology gets better and was sad that Apple didn't curve the watch like I hoped.
