Well to me the sooner the NHL stops trying to impress people who don't like hockey, the sooner it will gain the prestige it wants.

Yeah, stupid NHL trying to attract new fans to the sport.
What do they think they are? A business? A business that needs new customers to increase their company's growth and revenue? Ridiculous!
The NHL should instead focus it's efforts on being an omnipresent force that promotes small-town Canadian players and Don Cherry values and refuses to modernize or change anything so that 'real fans' like you don't have to deal with the harsh reality that there are 2 teams in Florida and only one in Quebec.

Ummm, 1 article from Gallagher makes this credible. Gallagher is huge hack, of the NATIONAL ENQUIRER level!!!
Wait until somebody with some background of insider knowledge breaks the story.
I don't even think Gallagher has broken a Canucks story in the last 10yrs

After being down there during the playoffs this year and seeing the huge turnout at bars/sportsbooks for the games, I definitely think it would work. You might not build the largest local fanbase but you should draw 16-18k no problem which is what matters. Its the one city here midweek games would likely be just as desirable as the weekend ones.

You sold me, I think the next place to expand to is Mexico City. There will be 21 million new fans.

To be honest, I'm most excited about the thought of there being another Toronto team so we don't have to listen to leaf nation 24/7 on 3 networks.

Millions of NHL salary dollars will be blown in Vegas for years to come..
My issue with this is the condition of teams on the ice when making a weekend road swing through the desert cities. Can't tell me they're not going to indulge with the money players will be bringing in there.

They could put the Toronto team in the West. The thing with me is where will they play. I think the Markham deal is dead.

He has a lot of followers and over 13,000 tweets, but I don't know how much inside info he has on the NHL (his site is behind a paywall).

It would only make sense to expand to Vegas and Seattle in 2017, which is the rumoured date. Even things up first, otherwise you're not solving anything. Plus I think those locations are much further along.

From what I understand about Seattle, shovels will not hit the ground on a new arena project until an NBA team is secured. When the Sacramento deal died, the arena chatter died also. The NBA has no immediate plans to expand, so I don't think Seattle is as close as anyone thinks.
