Tim's coffee black does serve a vital purpose: If you're feeling a little irregular, just down a glass of that and you'll have the runs in no time. Not sure any coffee does that quite like Tim's. pylon nailed it but it's not elitism, it's that even compared to the other coffees in that price range, Tim's comes in at or near the bottom. If you need anything more than a regular (1 cream, 1 sugar) to enjoy Tim's, you've automatically declared you don't like it because you need to load it up with diabetic coma levels of sugar to drink. It's like saying you love Jack Daniels but proceeding to pour a one ounce shot with 15 ounces of pop.

The good thing is that us little guys can benefit from Canadas corporate tax advantage…. Table 5 Corporation pays a lot less tax than it used to in the US. I used to do everything I could do to take money out of my corporation… and now I do what I can to keep it in there!

There is no better example of this then the new Spicy "Chicken" Sandwich.
The commercial for it even zooms in and shows you it's not even chicken, but some congealed byproduct of floor waste and factory worker sweat.
Then they add some semi-translucent magic "sauce" to it and that is supposed to make it look more appetizing?!
If this latest creation isn't a social experiment, I don't know what is.

Haven't read much of the thread so I don't know if it's been mentioned, but Tim's stock is up 20% a bit earlier today.

Never thought I'd see the day that companies want to move from the US to Canada due to friendlier taxes.

When I first saw the thread title I got excited and thought perhaps there was a new Burger King location opening NEAR ME!.........Bummer,
I love the whopper and now I have to drive all the way to Shaughnessy to get one. Seems like they've closed quite a few over the years especially in the South. I beleive there are only 6 locations in the entire city now and maybe one at the airport?
First they closed the one on MacLeod that is now a "White Spot"
Then they closed the one on MacLeod that is now a guitar shop
Then they closed the one in Queensland that is now a ?????
I often dream of the forever vacant lot on the NW corner of Southland and Elbow sprouting up a BK. Mmmmmm.
As far as Tim's goes, I couldn't care less.

Haven't had Burger Kings in years. Is it rated above, below, or on par with McD's "regret-after-eating" factor?
As for Tim's, it's my go-to place for Ice Caps...mainly due to its cheapness compared to Starbucks.

Tim Horton played 20 years for the Toronto Maple Leafs. He died after crashing his car while driving over 160 km/hr, fleeing from police, with a blood alcohol content of twice the legal limit.
If you drink Tim Hortons coffee you are supporting drunk driving, and worst of all, the Maple Leafs. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Tim Horton's did the reverse years back and only returned because the advantage in the US eroded and was better here. They pump Canadiana to hook people in and were willing to bail on this country without hesitation to increase the bottom line. It truly is shameful that they continue to tout it.

Agreed. And that's the only way I can drink my coffee is black. Much better options out there at the same price.

Tim Hortons is the same as Dunkin Donuts. Yeah, I said it.

Actually, most people I've talked to who've had both (which, granted isn't a lot of people) prefer Dunkin's coffee.

The point isn't a coffee elitism thing like "Such and such has a better $8 cup of coffee." It is the fact that you can get 10 X better coffee for the same price. If you double double any coffee with pure fat, it all tastes the same. Tim's coffee black, is revolting.
|
Thank you. I drink black from time to time, and Timmy's is the only place I absolute refuse to drink coffee from because it tastes so bitter.

I have never met a person that goes to Tim's for nationalistic pride.
I definitely agree that their food sucks, but honestly, so does everywhere else. Their coffee sucks as well, but my taste for coffee was ruined by spending so much time in Italy. All the coffee sucks here. I switched to tea, FFS.
What Tim's does well is have thousands of locations, where the menu is the same. I can get a bagel and a tea down the street, across town, in Mulletville, in BC, or in Halifax, and it's the same.
I bet that the places with better food and coffee would do 100x better if they had drive thrus. That's the way in to a Canadian's heart. If I can test your wares without getting out of my truck, and if they're good, then I will become a customer. Next time I might go inside to order. And Starbucks doesn't count. Yes, their coffee and pastries are good, but for $12, I can buy Tim's for myself and two other people.

Oh now I cannot wait for the new Canadian Maple Timbit Double Whopper Royale.
Or the new Tim Hortons Supreme Poutine with Sprinkles the same color as your regional professional sportsing team.
EDIT: Tim's Coffee is the worst, I have to drink the Steeped tea if I ever go there because there really isn't another choice near by. And even then, some times the steeped tea tastes like sewer water (or what I imagine sewer water tastes like). As the old saying goes "Sh** just ain't the same as it used to be".

To me their coffee tastes like someone put a cigarette butt out in it. I'll go through caffeine withdrawals first.

There is actual credence to the social experiment theory. The Tim's by my place is packed, constantly. There are 3 Tim Horton's at the UofC side by side by side (I #### you not) and there is always a line from 8am to 4pm. Thousands of people every day drinking Tim's battery acid.
Meanwhile the coffee place across the cafeteria that has way more selection and higher quality actual food never has a line. What is making people wait in a line for 20 minutes for coffee when there is no line for coffee of the exact same quality less than 50 feet away? The red cups?

Our government should openly come out and invite American companies up here. If the US wants to run a crapshow of a country, let them.
