Not really. He played two seasons in Vancouver where he played 64 and 67 games. He still put up decent points (actually led the Canucks in points in his final season), but retired at the age of 30.

Gelinas made a lot of great playoff memories for one season, but Reinhart was the best Flames player to ever wear 23.

still remember when announcers would say Reinhart the last player from the Atlanta Flames

I've watched the Flames my entire life. Gelinas provided not one or two moments that I'll never forget and will be touchstones for this fan base for decades to come.
I guess you've missed the posts where people explicitly say they don't vote for players they didn't watch play.

Also, the polls are for "best player," not "player you have the fondest memories of."

Let me ask this question.

For those who can remember back to when Reinhart played through to now.

Is there a Flame who would be considered to have higher "Hockey IQ"?

I can't think of one.

Missed the boat on the best #23 as it is clearly Reinhart .

Marty was clutch in the 2004 Cup run, but Paul Reinhart was a better player for the Flames and a standout defenseman during his injury shortened career.

Maybe Sergei Makarov? The guy had sick hands but wasn't an elite skater, but was most certainly an elite (offensive) player.

I remember watching Reinhart and I also remember he was the subject of my first real disagreement with my dad on hockey. My father HATED Reinhart. When he was traded, my dad insisted that we would win the Cup now that the bum is gone. I disagreed, with the old man, even though he was right. Haha, the Gretzky trade probably helped more than the Reinhart trade, but I digress.

These days my dad and I disagree on almost every player the Flames have.

Anyway, despite my fondness for Reinhart, Gelinas was one of those guys that altered the chemistry and culture of the team which ultimately led to the turnaround of the franchise. Those huge, franchise-defining goals were the cherries on top. Reinhart was a good defensemen, our best defenseman for a long time until MacInnis really came of age. But he didn't have those huge moments that defined the Flames' fortunes.

But that's just me. There isn't a wrong answer.
