People will do whatever they can to mask their demons, be it alcohol, drugs, etc. It's because of the negitive stigma associated with mental illness that causes people to do this.
I just wish we could elminate the stigma and make people understand that mental illness is not a weakness and that there is no shame in seeking help.
And this is what we have to remember when speaking about Theoren Fleury as well. Things are usually a lot more complicated than they seem.

Yeah that's why I always get so defensive at negative opinions/comments against Fleury on CP. Some people just have a really tough time understanding this stuff.

Robin Williams death is very tragic and personally it has saddened me more than any other celebrity passing. He has made me laugh so much in his life(career) and now with his death it has struck me very deeply. He will be missed.
RIP

I've worked on a number of films that he was in and even met him at a couple of wrap parties. He came as advertised, kind, funny and very approachable. Spoke with him a few times, took the time to talk to small guys, also a real pro.
An exceptional talent and person, he will be missed.

I cannot recall which year the HNIC telecast was but Williams was interviewed by either Scott Oake or Scott Russell. It was funny and Williams took over. The game was in Vancouver at GM Place (Rogers Arena) in the late 1990s or early 2000s.

This is awful news, and not to piss on the sentiments in here, but I am I the only one who often thought he had a screw loose? And I mean that in the nicest way possible-- he probably would take it as a compliment. I don't know how you can discuss his legacy accurately without referring to his idiosyncrasies. Some of his standup routines were bizarre though hilarious. It was also often easy to tell he was under the influence of something I've never tried before...
I loved his standup where he talked about putting Mr. Phallus on the stand in court... "Mr. Phallus, what did you see during the evening of ____" "Well, it was light, it was dark, it was light, it was dark, it was light it was dark". Pure gold!
Also, in Patch Adams he showed how touching of a performance he can put on, as he did in Doubtfire. For some reason I remember the Patch Adams sequences better even though it wasn't as good of a movie.
This is sad news for sure. All the admirers in the world, and still can't be happy.
