I don't want to change the logo and layout because it means CP will be down for an hour or so at some point in the future.

The issue with the one above for logo purposes is some of the details and text are too small, so if you were to have it in the upper corner of the page around the size as the current one, you wouldn't be able to discern what those details are. Definitely looks nice, though.

Simplicity and effectiveness are pretty key with a many good logos. Simple, colourful logos are imprinted in your memory much easier. But at the same time you want to look at it and know exactly what it's telling you that it's representing in a matter of a couple seconds. If it's something that you have to read and tilt your head a couple times to figure out, even if it looks cool, then it's probably not doing what it's supposed to be doing.

I'm assuming you were talking about the roundel. Here's an example of it at 100px:

The smaller version loses the tower and the 'dome, but I didn't intend for them to be major elements. Shorten to 'Unofficial Flames Community' and you're golden!

Wow, I'm definitely liking this logo you made here. Great job.

What if you made the inner circle black? Might help the Mono silhouette stand out better.

Could you show us that example but with the yellow and white ring removed from the middle? I could be way off, but I feel like that would look better with the tiny version that would be used for the logo.

Gets a little busy, personally. I also do like how Monny gets lost a bit in the logo. Makes him more a part of the logo than standing out from it.

I like the version with black a lot, the details stand out better IMO. Might also be because of my bad eyes that I prefer it.

Looks Looney Toonsish with the black. Nice job on it however!

I like the black inner circle also, but maybe remove the word "The" from the large scale and leave space for the skate at the bottom

Thanks! It could be my allergy to mix black with the Flames, but I definitely like both versions!

Love it. And not to be a pain, but I think this may take it over the top as far as making a small logo stand out. Could you incorporate a black line on the outside? Either on the inside or outside of the yellow ring.

I think that might make it a winner.

EDIT: Unless of course the logo is going to be against a dark background, which it probably would be. In that case it would probably look fine as is.

If anything though, putting black in it in this thread may give a better perspective of how it would stand out against a dark backdrop.

I think removing 'The' is a pretty good idea. Just like with the small version, maybe just 'Unofficial Flames Community' is enough

It's not a copyright issue because it's Royalty Free, but there is an ethical issue.

Very nice. Anyway you could post that on a dark background, so we could see what it may look like on a Flames themed message board layout?

Isn't this site Calgarypuck?

And not Calgary Puck?

Also, I think the white background/middle was clearly the best.
