Yeah I'll see it if it's good. The idea of a sarcastic less serious superhero is interesting compared to the hundreds of way too serious ones. Hopefully they take their marketing money and spent it in on the movie.
Still not sure how they're going to gloss over that the same actor played the same character already, in a polar opposite kind of way. Like if theres a Batman sequel and Christian Bale now does Batman in a falsetto voice, it's weird.
It's probably harder to mass market a R rated movie about a character who is known for violence and swearing compared to Zoolander. I did see the Deadpool trailer as a preview for the Hateful Eight.
Youtube views of the second trailer seems to be outpacing the Zoolander views so there is that. 9million in 19 days on the second trailer vs. 16 million in 56 days. Just a rough view of current internet interest and buzz.

The nice thing about Deadpool in this regard is that he breaks the 4th wall. He can outright acknowledge that he was already in a movie and that it was bad. I'm sure they will reference it at some point, just like he does for his GL costume in the trailer.

I thought this was known for a while. Interview with Mario Lopez back in April. Watch the whole thing though. Some important info on the back end of this. F-ing Slater.

If done right it has the potential of a classic. However a movie like this will walk such a fine line that if the script is anything short of near flawless it could be a disaster. I don't see much of a middle ground with this one as it's either going to be very good or terrible. Whether it's a disaster or not I don't think you will be able to blame Reynolds as he's probably the perfect actor to cast in this role.

I think Twilight had awful marketing, then again I think twilight is awful...
I'm not a Ryan Reynolds fan, but I was kinda interested in the movie becayse of all the Deadpool hype and because so many people love the character. However, most of these commercials and youtube clips, other than the main trailer which is fine, are pretty myopic on the character's sense of humour. Is anyone that isn't already a Deadpool fan interested in this or think this schtick is funny? Marketing isn't preaching to the choir, it's getting new people interested in your product. In that regard, I feel they're failing horrible.

Fair enough. I'm certainly not gonna say you're wrong but it must be working for some people. Many shows for opening weekend are selling pretty well and it's still two weeks out.

Testament: I know nothing about Deadpool other than 1) he's a superhero, 2) he's supposed to be funny and sarcastic and, 3) he breaks the 4th wall.
I think the marketing and trailer has been brilliant, and I will see this film opening weekend.

I hope they don't have too many improved scenes. The ones where characters repeatedly make increasing random jokes about the same thing. Getting so sick of those. Plus it's lazy. Instead of writing jokes or making an interesting scene they just have actors make jokes, cut in the best ones and shoot it over the shoulder. The trailer only has one scene like this (between Ryan Reynolds and TJ Miller) so I hope the script doesn't rely on this type of humour.
Ryan Renolds' career is pretty much riding on this movie.
He was the face of the entire marketing campaign from the get go and if he has another movie that falls flat on it's face (Turbo, RIPD, Self/Less. That's 3 wide releases in a row that bombed) then you have to think that any star power he had is gone.
I like him as an actor though so I hope he can pull it off.

I don't know, people don't die in Hollywood unless they allow themselves too. Bigger people have come back from worse. Gibson, Baldwin, RDJ, Colin Farrel, etc..
If it bombs, and he keeps working, he'd find his way back. It's not like he was really a HUGE star ever in the first place. Low-budget comedies and romantic comedies was pretty much his bag before GL.
