Didn't realize he was almost a 20 goal 50 pt guy last season. Decent stats.

I like it. Home town boy finally gets to play for his favorite team.

Quoting instead of thanks. Completely agree.

IF he can put up 20 per year this will be a solid deal.

(And boy does this make Glencross even more of a steal!)

I mean he was a great signing for Toronto last year but that was when he cost a million bucks. Even if it was 2ish it would have been good. 3.5? This is an overpay by a fairly significant margin.
WE HAVE TO OVERPAY SOMEONE TO REACH THE CAP FLOOR.

In fact, we're still going to have to overpay someone to get to the cap floor.

So yes, who cares about the money? I care about what he will do for us on the ice rather than an overreaction about a minor overpayment.

It baffles me that there are several fans who think Byron is better than Raymond.

I don't like it, we have enough LW's, plus 3M + seems high for Raymond

I think I'm starting to lose track of what is considered overpaid and what is not...

Lol. It's not always about stats....

Decent pickup for us. We're not the most attractive destination and we managed to snag a potential 20 goal guy with speed who we've seen be very effective at times in the west. No more raymond hat tricks against us either. Got to be happy about that, at least. The fan guys are saying he can play on both wings so I'm assuming he slots in on the right side.

Mason Raymond will be playing RW on the Flames... too many LW already, and he's able to play the right side.

Byron's way more physical, Raymond won't dump the puck in. And gets pushed off the puck way too easily. Byron works very hard

If he plays the RW and leaves the left side open for Beartschi/Gaudreau then Im good with this. We have to reach the cap floor somehow.

Raymond doesn't replace Byron he replaces Cammy.

Bollig replaces guys like Byron and Galiardi.

Don't hate it, don't love it. We need solid NHL bodies and veteran assistance. The deal makes sense.

I don't get how a guy who has been historically a 40pt winger is not worth 3M.
As for whether Baertschi/Gaudreau making the team, there's still a top 9 spot somewhere for one of them. If the other has to go to the AHL, that's not a bad thing. Either of these guys will have to make an impossible case to keep them down. Baertschi still hasn't taken that next step, Gaudreau is likely to continue to blow out expectations but we still need to see that talent actually step in the NHL/AHL level first.

Unless Vrbata doesn't want the flames.

Raymond does, so it makes sense to bring him in.

Would be nice if he can play RW but if not still right term (3 years or less) and not money that will handcuff us.

Not my first choice or am exciting pick but a fine signing that should help fill in a spot during rebuild.
