Depends on your definition.

They lack individual skill, that's true. On that scale I'd rank them among the bottom in this tournament. But they play an excellent team game. And team play wins you games.

So they're not a terrible team. Obviously. They were pretty close to making it to top 8 in the World Cup. And still could.

Heh, had the exact same thing happen to me last thursday, ball in the face from point blank range. My nose still hurts.

The break in the extra time was perfectly timed for the US, gave them a chance to regroup mentally and physically for their last push.
