I don't doubt that it is fake, but GMs also lie all the time. They have to.

If Treliving did make that offer and it leaked, it could affect the relationship between him and the players involved. If the deal was turned down, the only right thing to do would be to deny it was ever made.

Having said that, I tend to believe that is was BS.
