He goes head to head with Walker in the mornings. I now see the motivation to Walkers comments in this thread. It was all good and fine when he was collecting a pay cheque on 960 to work with Richards but now they are on opposing channels Walker has become a better human being. Lets be honest if it really bothered him back in the day nobody was forcing him to work for 960 and that job got him to where he was today. I have an issue with people the climb the ladder and piss on the people that helped get them to where they are now. I feel Walker really doesn't regret being part of that show at all and that post was just him pretending to be a better man than he really is. Pretty weak stuff Andrew but as I said before I always felt you were this type of person.

Ok, well before we get into what type of "person" you know I am because you used to hear me for a few minutes on a sports talk show...... Let's get back to my opinion.

- did the Michelle wie stuff "OFFEND" me. Of course not. Why would it? Would I laugh at it in a comedy club? Yeah I would.... I'm a big believer in stand up comedians having immunity.

-what I said was that bits like this are no longer welcome on the Airwaves, and there's a reason he doesn't do them anymore. If I did an "oh Haro" joke or a gay joke or a Donald sterling race joke, I, he, Greg Brady, Steinberg and anyone you know would be pulled off the air and fired within hours. I promise you.

- times change. If you're not offended by the bits that used to poke fun at people groups, great! I don't want everyone to get offended! I'm not Personally offended by Brocket 99, but I still know it's wrong and a bad idea.

- I don't regret where I worked or the road I took.... But I regret that there is probably audio of me somewhere giggling and taking part in a gag making fun of Asians, because it's 2014 and not ok, whether you or I are "offended" or not.

So....I'm not telling anyone they are a bad person, and you're allowed to think something is funny. I'm just telling you the way things are now in the world, and was willing to take part in the conversation.

Pretty amazing how much things have changed in a few short years.

Appreciate you coming here and offering your perspective on things. Hopefully you'll keep coming back and not be scared off by people thinking they're scoring points off you.

The Wie bit was especially awkward, because it sexualized a teenager. Was she an adult then?

Lighten up people. It is comedy. Give me an example of your brand of humour to compare. I suppose Richard's Rita McNeil stuff really bothered you all is well because it was offending to the overweight. He hit everyone whether they were in sports or a Canadian personality.

I think Boomer doing voice bits and trying to be funny on his morning show is way weaker than any Richards bit. He did some schtick where he talked like a valley girl a month or so ago and it was bad. Warrener did not know what to say after. Boomer sucks.

I liked Boomer quite a bit when he was on the afternoons and don't hate him now but when he tries to be funny it can be just brutal.

CP sometimes has a funny double standard.

On the internet people do and say horrible things often because of the anonimity that comes with it. In the "real world" most internet trolls would behave much differently. The nice thing about CP as opposed to a lot of websites is that generally people are pretty respectful to each other even if they have differing opinions. Even when someone is clearly trolling here they are usually either ignored or politely corrected, at least at first. So, CP is a lot more like the "real world" than most web sites.

However, in this case Andrew Walker comes on here and isn't even given the same leeway that would normally be given to anonymous trolls. His past behavior is brought up, his motives are questioned and some people take pot shots. Most of which would not happen if they were speaking to Andrew face to face.

It's a little embarassing although I can take solace that it's the vast minority of posters that are behaving this way.

I'm perplexed that there's so much discussion about those bits being offensive.

They WERE offensive... but ONLY because of how absolutely un-funny they were. Just cringe worthy with how lame, lazy and unoriginal those attempts at humour were.

SWEAT PANTS WITH NICE SHOES!!

I loved most of the Mike Richards comedy bits. Steve Armitage was my fave. I also love how he almost seemed proud of what a dick he was. I remember the day after the Rita Macneil bit he proudly read all of his hate mail. His show was great but he got out at the right time IMO. It was starting to get a bit old.

Maybe in few years somebody on CP will make a thread about some of the classic Andrew Walker bits. I don't know if there are any because except for Maher in the morning I quit listening. Warriner was the only one worth listening to but the 2 insecure "radio guys" would hardly let him talk.

As for the whole morality debate..................So.......only stand up comedians have immunity from being offensive. K, got it. That's the stupidest thing I've heard since well....That's Stupid Segments.

Freedom of speech should apply for everyone. Even if you or I or anyone else doesn't like what they say.

What exactly has changed since then? I'm not buying any of that as if Richards was still in Calgary he would be doing the same bits. You came here out of the blue to tell us how ashamed you were to be part of it and now have backtracked to saying you are ashamed of a possible clip of you laughing at it. Yeah you would probably be fired for a "haro" comment on your show because that's not your schtick or what you were hired to do. Richards was hired by Kirsch to do an edgy show and you know I'm right here and you were a willing participant as nobody forced you to be a part of it. Coming out here and telling us you are ashamed of the show that you willingly participated in and collected a pay cheque kind of does a disservice to the other people involved, many of them still with 960 and it reeks of self-righteousness.

Things haven't changed nearly as much as you think as Russia is putting out anti-gay laws. You have a racist NBA owner kicked out of the league. You have a black guy like Maurice Price tweeting anti-gay stuff which is a minority being a biggot and that just goes to show that we aren't even close. Lots of work still to do and it's just not going to happen overnight or in a handful of years but lets be realistic of the line between edgy comedy and real racism.

Dude, we get it - you hate all things Sportsnet. You've made your opinion over abundantly clear many, many times in many, many threads. Second rate, bad management, etc, blah, blah. They've wronged you somehow in the past and you can't let go. Try to move on, you'll be ok.
