Ok I will confirm that there was talk now that I ask around. Talk around LA when they were slumping pre-olympics.
There you go... even though his job was on the line though, I still think he's one of the best.

Great coach
Heck I still think he was a good GM all things considered. His good moves out number his bad ones and he was by all accounts the guy who started designing our scouting department/development system that is starting to look outstanding

Darryl is by far the best former Flames coach currently employed by another NHL team.

Sutter is one of the top 3 coaches in the league based on his ability to get a team to play above their level. He did it with the Flames, and he did it with the Kings.

I believe it was on the morning show the day after LA went down 0-3 or the second morning after.
I heard the Fan 960 guys briefly discussing it while I drove in to work.

Julien was close to being fired a few years back as well. Being a professional coach is a thankless job as it's all about what have you done for me lately. The rumours were out there and with the Kings probably winning this series we will probably never know how close he was to losing his jib. Despite being told that I don't know what I'm talking about it's funny to see that there's a good amount of posters here that know less.

this thread sure died when it was proven I didn't just make up that story out of thin air...the two guys hammering away at me stopped posting for some reason
if Daryl pulls it off tomorrow though that should raise his stock, otherwise its just a first round loss, gonna be an awesome game

What story? You couldn't even follow your own arguments. EE got proven wrong and you widened the goal posts so far you almost needeed another field.
You claimed it was on TSN but that was made up out of thin air and made several claims you couldn't back up. The only thing you've said that has been true is that the initial hiring was mocked in the media.

I don't pvr clips in case I have to prove it to someone on CP
TSN panel discussed it, and others have heard it on Fan 960, one guy confirmed the local LA media had discussed it at various points during the season

Nobody in Kings management has even hinted at firing Sutter. Those reports are pure speculation.
The players do not love Sutter as much as they did two years ago. I don't see Lombardi firing another coach because of underperforming players. If the players do their job, they will likely find Sutter more tolerable.

Not a big fan of any of the Sutters that I've seen coach...just not enough offensive creativity in their systems...the Kings have struggled, at times, to generate scoring...Babcock and Q, however, seem to have teams that can play enough D, AND find ways to cause opponents to fear more than just a hot goalie...Babcock getting a mostly Grand Rapids quality roster to the postseason has easily been the most impressive coaching feat this year...and as a Blackhawk fan, it always pains me to accord much credit to Detroit.

It certainly would be a first if any management hinted at firing their head coach. Usually the firing comes after a vote of confidence if anything.

The point is, whoever said anything about Sutter's job being in jeopardy had no legitimate source for making such a statement. My guess is a player was overheard complaining about Sutter and that was turned in to him being in danger of losing his job. Anyone reasonably close to anyone on the team has heard some version of the "team tuned out the coach" sentiment. We all know Sutter is a screamer, so of course there will be times where poor play can make the locker room a uncomfortable place to be when Sutter is unhappy. He is demanding.

Bottom line is that Boomer and Elliot Freedman on the Fan 960 one morning were discussing that there were whispers about maybe a change when the series was off to a horrid start and they were discussing players thing him out. I never claimed that it was 100% factual or from where it leaked in the organization. My days of patrolling places like Eklund, Spector's Hockey, etc are over so I just go by what ever I read at legit sites, TSN, RSN, or the radio by the guys that you know broke the Flames GM hiring before anyone else.
I like Darryl Sutter and if anyone wants to go back and look (Flameswin) I was saying numerous times he was the best coach in the out of work before he was hired for the Kings so it's not like I'm trying to make him look bad or anything.

^ exactly, I wasn't saying he was bad either...I said he was one of the best
If Elliot Freedman of CBC was talking about it on the fan I think you can trust me it was discussed elsewhere.
some people are just reading half of posts, nobody is saying he is in trouble now we were talking IF they got swept or lost in 5. The only reason I even brought it up is to show what a tough job it is. One week people are questioning your future employment and the next week you are the best coach in the world
