That Arctic Monkeys song is terrible. One of the worst things I've heard on the radio when it comes to alt rock. Slow, no real hook, boring and simple guitar riffs, boring vocals.
Sad that tracks like that one are getting played hourly it seems. I've been hoping it would fall off the playist sooner than later, as well as a couple others.
More of tracks like this little gem would be welcomed:
The Smalls? No offense to them but that better not be the jaw dropping announcement.
I am keeping my hopes low though. You know why? Because ticket prices already set, so I doubt they'd be able to add a true headliner like Outkast or any other big artist we've guessed at.
My guess is at the high price they're charging, ticket sales are slower than expected, so they're trying to add a little shot in the arm and hopefully get renewed interest from those that liked the line-up but couldn't justify the price.
Dude, tons of offense taken. I'd rather see the Smalls get back together and go to one more show of theirs than any other band on planet earth alive or dead. I'd even go to this festival and subject myself to listening to the god awful noise generated by the Arctic Butt Monkeys if I could just see this live again:

The Arctic Monkeys and the Rainbow Butt Monkeys have never collaborated as far as I know.

Corb Lund tweeted this morning that there is going to be an announcement about his old band The Smalls Tuesday on X92.9. That tweet seems to be gone now so I'm guessing they're the mystery band. They're not huge by any means but a reunion would be really cool.
Looks like it's official that the new addition is the Smalls.
Man I consider myself a pretty big music snob with bias towards rock and particularly classic rock, 90's rock, and current bands like the Black Keys and Jack White.
I saw Arctic Monkeys at Sasquatch last year and heard OF them but never heard them before and was blown away. One of the best groups I saw that weekend. I have to say I'm surprised by some of the hate. (Also great that weekend: Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Elvis Costello, Edward Sharp and the Magnetic Zeros, Mumford and Sons rendition of The Chain was one of the best live performances I've ever seen, and I'm not much of a Mumford guy.)
With them, and Jack White among the headliners this year at XFest I'm pretty choked I will be out of town for this.

Man, this would be so much better as a 1 day concert. Trim a little fat and make one powerful day;
Jack White, Arctic Monkeys, Foster the People, Death Cab for Cutie, Tegan and Sara, the Smalls, Stars, Cage the Elephant.
very excited for this weekend. Each day has got bands that i love but tomorrow i am STOKED for the smalls . I'm a little young to have seen them when they were around but man do i love that band. Jack white to, c'mon. Anyone who's is going this weekend should not miss July talk. friggin love them to.
Smalls were great, .Jack White amazing. Just getting geared up for day 2- there is a lull before the Artic monkeys, so I might try and sneak out and come back for the headliner
That second day line-up seems weird to me. I don't know what it is, it's like Foster the People are'nt even close to being as popular as I thought they were.
I thought they were for sure the 3rd most popular band coming to Xfest. During speculation I was even going think it was great if they were the headliner.
Now they're slotted in as the fourth band on day 2 behind Tegan and Sara, and Serena Ryder? Colour me surprised. Serena Ryder does small shows across Canada all the time (I'm pretty damn sure Foster the People would be too big to the play the Coke stage at stampede like she did).
I don't know, at the end of the it doesn't really matter, it's just more confusing than anything. Hell, even that leaked Sylvan Lake festival that never came to fruition had Sam Roberts as the headliner, then some other Canadian band, then Foster the People in small writing like they were a little warm up act for the afternoon.
I know they peaked with their debut album a couple of years ago when they were headliners at huge American festivals, but with their new album this summer, it's hard to believe they've fallen this much.
