Poirier is INCREDIBLE. 4 points in his first two games. Being a warrior in front of the net, took away tons of plays on the backcheck. I've never been so impressed this season.
Reinhart - Granlund - Poirier <--- insane
Orito <--- INSANE
Reinhart breaks the record for most points & Heat break franchise record in points.

It would be nice to see Poirier turn into a 2n'd line 20g 20a guy who can agitate the other team. He could definitely fill a roll the flames are lacking in. Maybe selling him short a little bit, hope for the best.

I'd be happy if he could be a Simon Gagne type player with a little more edge.

Right wing? Seriously though, he's an exciting prospect.
However, take notice that at the very beginning of the clip, that's Poirier with the crazy awesome pass for Granlunds first goal....and he's the one who stole the puck from the Stars player on Granlund's second goal...then he fed it to Max and whiffed on the return pass and Granlund cleaned it up from there.
At this point I think we're all selling him short. Not trying to raise expectations, but he has all the tools to be a great player.
I think after sven barschi it would be wise to temper expectations for our prospects. No need to put extra stress on these guys. Just let them go play their game and improve day by day. That said there is a lot to like about his game.
Removal of pressure and lowering expectations breads weak individuals.
Winners love pressure thats what makes them tick.
Poirier has pressure on him, and rightly so.
He is a ticket to retirement for his parents.
He is an exiting prospect for the rest of us.
Great start.
Keep it up, points come and go but the drive and effort can be constant.

So Poirier can do "the flash" at the AHL level too. Awesome.
I can see Gaudreau - Monahan - Poirier happening on the Flames by next January.
Yeah, I've seen that same play from him a few times in his junior highlights. That kid has some crazy wheels. The more you see of him the more trust you have to have in the flames scouting staff.
And it's so exciting to have all these guys that will be knocking on the door at camp this year... Poirier, baertschi, granlund, gaudreau, this year's first round pick (depending on who it is), Wotherspoon, Max Reinhart, Knight... Great to have this kind of prospect depth in the organization. Even better that some guys will earn a spot on the team and others will get to develop into even better players than they are now by continuing to develop in the AHL.
