The goalies hands and neck are always near the ice. There are extremely sharp blades at the bottom of the feet. In a high traffic area where everyone is trying to jam the puck in, why do we want blades flying around?
It doesn't happen now because it's not a common occurrence. How can people not see that?

Brunner seems to be on ice all the time. Nice hit by Butler but of course even Simmer does not respect Butler saying it was Russell that hit Brunner.

Love how Hartley has this Flames team frustrating the hell out of all the others looking for playoff position.
And Ramo up till now has been playing with shades of Kipper.

Hartley is coach of the year in my book. Look what he's done with this team.

It doesn't happen because it is difficult and unnatural. Maintaining your balance while trying to kick the puck is not easy and not productive. Also, players have a stick in their hands, which is pretty handy when it comes to wanting to move the puck.
There would be no increase in kicking whatsoever.
The only thing that a rule change would do is allow a few more goals and eliminate one more subjective call from refs.

Another good play by Butler. Kicking the puck out before someone from the Devils can put a stick on the puck.

Butler kicked the puck from entering our net! He was close to Ramo, who was on the ice!!
DOUBLE STANDARD! Why was that allowed?

So if the rules changed there wouldn't be incentive for a player in the slot with his stick tied up by the d-man, with the puck at his feet, to kick it in? Because I picture that happening...a lot.

I strongly disagree. Taking away the stick is one of the most basic defensive plays in a goalfront scramble. Players would be kicking away like crazy.
As to the game, score one for Rämö guys.
