Condolences to the Stajan family - i am sure the Flames will be there and let Matt take the course of action that is best to him, whether that means sitting out a long time, or getting back into hockey when the time is right, to get back to a routine.

My wife passed on this news to me today. She was devastated. I can't begin to imagine what Matt and Katie are feeling. I hope they stay strong, despite the heartbreak. Matt especially needs to stay strong for Katie. She needs him.
I'm nearly in tears. So much sympathy go out to the family. Take your time and be well, Matt. Take care of her.

Thats tragic, really have to feel for the family. Sadly this happens a lot more than I would have thought. Canada has the second highest infant mortality rate in the industrialized world at 2.4 per 1000 births. Never realized it was that high, pretty sad to think that 1 out of every 500 births doesn't make it.

My respect level went up 100000% for these 2 when I saw them volunteering after the flood.
This is just awful, awful news. As a parent myself, my heart is heavy for 2 great people. Whenever Matt is ready to come back, I hope he gets a standing ovation that lasts as long as possible.

We had a lot of complications with our son a few years back, thankfully all worked out in the end. But news like this just shakes me to my core. I physical break down at the thought of losing a child.
My deepest sympathies go to Matt, Katie and the entire Stajan family.
RIP Emerson.
