South Korea has a 29% share of shipbuilding, behind China's 45%. The EU has a 1% share. Rest of the world - 7% (including the US).

I think they'd be just fine.

The first one is always super expensive. You have to build the facilities, order the materials, get new contracts in place and have a serious fudge factor room. The second is usually half as much then the third considerably cheaper. But usually the opposition of these type of projects don't mention that. They just throw out a number and say this process is too expensive.
It isn't necessarily cheaper to go with a foreign built vessel as once you get into having to maintain the vessel, Canadianize it ( radars, weapons, training personnel) it could end up being as expensive by the end cause you're paying the same amount for 3 of the type. It could actually be cheaper by the end of the third to build domesticly.
Canada's only getting 2 ships of this class unfortunately - there are no more units to amortize costs against. The sticker price, is the sticker price.

The RN article I linked talks about how the RN is addressing your exact comment. The basic ships complete sea trials in Korea and go to the UK to be fitted out with sensitive equipment.

I hate to put my Rick "taaaaaaaxpayer" Bell hat on but a ship 1/2 as big for twice the cost doesn't sound like a good deal for the frontline forces. It is of course, a political call - designed to provide government welfare to certain areas of the country. Fast Ferries for BC anyone?

Well..

The crew members with important dates upcoming have returned home (weddings, child births, medical... etc.)

Some members of CFB Esq have volunteered to go out and replace the people coming home so that Pro can sustain "battle watch" that has been ongoing since the fire was first reported to the C.O.

Battle watch is a 24/7 watch of the space for secuirty to ensure access is limited to those investigationg the damage only. From my personal experience, it blows. You stand in all outer spaces of the damage and a sentry in the space for a few hours at a time acting as sentry. The entire crew rotates out through this process.

The crew is back to work today unloading all damaged goods and assessing what can be salvaged in terms of dry goods, emergency relief items and so on.. Also, all missiles, torpedos and ammo should begin to be removed today.

The investigation is likely to take a couple months and with that comes the crew logistical problem. The good news is, we have the available manning to head out and swap the existing crew. Unfortunately, it doesnt always workout like that.
