People that litter, takes dumps on graves, pee in public, vandalize property and even flick smoke buts will begin figuring out there is a good chance they will make the internet. As dash cams increase in use they will also see their bad driving habits publicized in the same way.

I don't mind one bit.

I'm not upset on either end of this story.

But that above is some weak ass logic right there.
I guess I should have just posted the Twitter link / photo and not added my opinion.

People get away with doing this kind of crap all the time, now someone happens to catch the perpetrator on film and everyone defends her? I just don't get it.

She didn't like getting caught and especially being photographed doing something that she knows she shouldn't be doing.

No, the fine part was discussing your opinion. The public shaming part (rightly or wrongly) is what got people upset. Just because someone does something, doesn't make it ok to join in, and by doing that, you were joining in. I don't want to call it bullying as that word is horribly overused and I don't think it is the right word here anyway, but I can't think of a more accurate word, and that is the way some people see it.

As far as the opinion goes, that's fine, everyone has em, and like I said, that's what the discussion forum is for. It was the spreading it around and 'ganging up' that I think most people are upset with.

Lasty, for the sixth and last time, I'm not defending her. It was dumb and she shouldn't have done it. I myself would never do a thing like that. But I don't control her, and more importantly, I don't think it's nearly as big a deal as you have made it, and this being a discussion forum, is my place to say that. Especially since we know you were going for a reaction. Well you got one, just wasn't the one you thought it would be.

Just wanted to throw another post in there to thank Daradon for the posts he has made in this thread. Putting the ideas and opinions out there that I share and doing a much better job of communicating them. I agree with pretty much every single point he has made here.

I understand that what the woman in the photo has done has violated social norms and is doing things that are considered rude by the vast majority of people. I just don't agree with the reaction that people are having to it.

ETA: And by no means am I trying to defend what the woman pictured did, ether by allowing her dog to do it's business on the gravesite or by walking it off-leash in that area.

To me the outrage just reminds me of how an old lady with no more husband in her life would react while out for a walk. "OMG, something to get outraged at, this will fill some of my day!!!".

If I ever find out who she is, I'm going to poop in her purse, when she's not looking.

So who gets the bad luck in this situation the dog or the owner? If running over a gravestone gives you years of bad luck, what will crapping on them get you?

It would be funny if there was a second photographer taking a picture of the photographer who took this picture. We could headline it creepy photographer invading the privacy of mourning women and her dog.

Then we could all get outraged that no one has any privacy anymore and that someplaces you should expect to not be photographed even if you are in public.

Tonight on TV's rock bottom Rowdy Roddy Peeper.

If we want to continue down the public shaming path everyone is guilty without defense.

Ya, count me in the ok with the picture being posted camp. I find what she did to be pretty disrespectful.

It may not be logical to burry dead people in the ground, but there is a lot of things that is illogical in this world (like religion). However, we don't go around disrespecting others beliefs and traditions because we have something called common decency. This woman showed none. Even cleaning it up, it is the mere act of defecating that is enough. In our culture (I mean west European mainstream NA culture) a human defecating on a grave is considered a massive sign of disrespect.

Look at the drunk kids who peed on war memorials, people were by and large outraged. Why? It's just a hunk of metal, it's not a real soldier. No it's symbolism, and ya it's not logical but it is tradition and norm of our culture to respect such things. No different with a grave site. Even worse it's a dog which is an animal, a sub human. I really do not get the shrugs here.

People in a graveyard are there because they are there, logic or not. They were put there to be respected eternally logically or not. I think all of us know that it is what a graveyard is for. This lady should know that too. To me this is like parking in a handicap spot, she knows she was doing wrong and did it anyways. It may not be illegal, but it is a super d**che move, and I have little sympathy for her pic being posted.

I just don't think it's worth potentially ruining a girl's life over. Having her picture posted all over the internet could have grave (pun intended) consequences on her reputation and relationships.

It was bad judgement and no one was hurt. Hopefully she realizes what she did wrong and doesn't do it again. There are so many things in the world to get upset about and this one is far down the list of worries. It's too bad by-law enforcement wasn't there to give her a fine, but they weren't so oh well.
