Great pass by Granlund to Jones. Jones looks pretty great to me.

Granlund with the dirtiest pass to Jones on that one.

If this club still had Nemisz and Horak instead of Gillies and MacDermid... They'd regularly beat the Oilers.

Horak's lighting it up in OKC. 6g, 5a in 6 games. He can do no wrong.
Pains me to say it, but hopefully he goes up with the Oilers when they come back from the Olympic Break. He's earned it.

Granlund beneficiary of a nice bounce ends up alone in front, whiffs the first shot and then pots it second attempt

End of 1st Period
4-1 Heat
Shots on Goal: 14-13 Checkers
Checkers fans are going to be pissed. The Heat opting to move the time of the game cancelled a fan skate with the Checkers. And now we are just beating them senseless.

The kids are laughing out there. Jones shrugged after his goal, Granlund with the same bashful "well that was easy?" look on his face. I wish we could play them all season.

So is Sven not playing with Locke and Jooris or was that just to start the game?

There were a few line shuffles to start the game, but it looks to be back to normal now.

God I wish we could see these games live. Every time I follow along with these game threads I fantasize about a nice little 5000 seat arena in Airdrie or Okotoks

When I heard COP, I thought that would be perfect. Ring Road access, and access for people in the western communities.

I'd buy seasons tickets if they were in Okotoks, no question.

Unfortunately the Winsport Arena's biggest rink is International and seating for 3,000. The 3 NHL arena's sit about 250.
They didn't think the arena's through that well as the main focus in planning was the ice house. Never planned for the arena's to be more then figure skating practice or local minor or beer teams play/practice. (So I heard...)

Build another rink? They are constantly expanding that facility up there.

I don't get why they didn't build a 10,000 seater up there to start with. They have a ton of land to use and it's just sat there since the '88 Olympic planning. There is a huge chunk of land they want to turn into shopping but the City has been stalling that. They could easily turn that into an arena.
They want to be a world class Olympic training facility so I think putting in a rink that has some proper seating would make sense. I mean jeez, the chaos of getting into there for the Development Camp practices or the Flames ones after the lockout should make it obvious people would go.
