How do 27 year old figure skaters fare in the olympics? Any chance for him in 2018?

There is a curse on Canadian Men's Figure Skaters. They just can't put it together in the final skate.

Yeah, super unfortunate. :\ We've had so many amazing world champions and they never manage the gold.

So regardless who wins it has to be one of the worst performances ever to win Gold.

Practically the same score for both in the long.

Basically. Those were both pretty ugly skates.

Truly a curse. Hanyu didn't just open the door he invited him in.

Isn't falling on your ass twice a lot worse than a few stumbles?

18 points below his best on the season, pretty bad.
Honestly, this Men's competition overall has been one of the weakest I've ever seen. Those two were ugly skates and still 20 points ahead of most of the field.
No matter what, really happy for Patrick. He represents us so well and seems so nice and genuine, and has been at least 2nd in the world the past five years. I hope he tries again in 2018.

Was alot more than a few stumbles. Hand down twice.. stumbles in between combinations. Stumbles in spins. It was overall very ugly. Mistakes in skating (not jumping) that he never makes.

Frustrating skate to watch. He nailed that first quad, and I thought that would set the stage for the rest of his program, but it seemed it almost got worse. Oh well.

27 is usually their last if they are very competitive. Stojko was 30 at his last attempt. Yagudin was 32. Most go until 28-30, so it's conceivable he'll take one more shot at it.
