So they should only rank them on a tournament that happens once every four years?

Me neither. I'm wondering if he wrote this game off before it even started.

So did Smid play at all today? They're going on about the guys that aren't there, but Smid is there and he doesn't get to play. And Pavelec not even dressed?

Smid has no ice time according to Twitter.

Sending a message to Pavelec because he didn't play in the world championships after a long NHL season?
What about the message to your team that your ego is more important to you than giving the team the best chance to win a game?

I thought the same thing. The Czech's are basically playing for 2nd in their division now. There is going to be a bunch of teams at 2-1 and tied for the 4th bye so he's obviously looking ahead to the gf/ga tiebreaker down the road. It's an interesting strategy IMO.

rank them based on common sense, people who have money on the line rank them properly
anyway who cares, canada is going to kill either of those teams

Hanzal being the healthy scratch is the craziest move of them all.

Russia and USA will give us a run, not worried about the ice though...only thing that can stop Canada is a miraculous goal tending effort. People always talk about how they blew it in 98' when really they dominated the entire game and Hasek stole it
anyway I know why my monies on

The Czech mangement/coaching is a joke. I hope they lose every game.

Me too. I really wanted them to do well for Jagr's sake but the whole team is a massive joke.

Russia would be the smart bet to win the gold right now. Varlamov has been awesome all year long and you just know every advantage will be afforded to that team on home soil, whether its officiating or whatever.
One thing that may work against Canada this time around is the weak pool they are in. Historically they have done better facing adversity early on in the tournament, but at this rate they'll likely finish 1st in group B and not face a good team until the semis.
If you enjoy underdog betting, Finland at 12-1 is a nice choice.
