One of my favorites that hasn't been mentioned is Maximum Overdrive. Universally panned by critics, but 10 year old me could not get enough of that movie

Maybe the nostalgia factor at play but I can watch High School High over and over again.

I also thought Natural Born Killers is a pretty well liked movie. I very much liked it anyway. Similar "shock films" about serial killers that become popular have been made, but I don't think I've seen any other that are any good.
And yeah, I second 13th Warrior.
Also, War of the Worlds. Although that was a box office hit and relatively well-liked by critics.

Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. There are a lot out there who dislike everything Wes Anderson does, but even amongst Wes Anderson fans, I've heard many cite this as his worst film (certainly it was his critically worst-reviewed film), but for me it's by far his best and one of my absolute favorite movies. The themes, the visuals, the soundtrack, and especially the characters all really resonate with me.

Given the way CP seems to react, I think Pacific Rim counts in this topic.

The Beach. Can't explain it, maybe it was just the awesome locations it was filmed, but I hold that movie as one of the best I've seen. 90's era Lord of The Flies.

You're not alone on that one. That's a solidly funny and interesting movie that is often overlooked as being cheesy. Great date movie too.

Another vote for Cloverfield. No idea why so many people hated it.

It sort of started the found footage action genre, which many people don't seem to like. It was an interesting way of doing things back in 2008, but only six years later it has run its course. Although Cloverfield was probably the best big budget movie in that genre. In terms of found footage movies as a whole I'd probably rank it behind Rec, Chronicle, and maybe Blair Witch Project.
Here is a list of found footage movies (I can't believe I've seen about half of them). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Found_footage_(genre)
I also think Cloverfield is the type of movie that is that much better on the big screen, and that goes for other movies as well. Avatar, Titanic, Pacific Rim, Godzilla, Jurassic Park, Gravity, even Life of Pi are types of movies you need to see in theater to fully appreciate them. If you watch them at home after repeat viewings your level of enjoyment could drastically decrease each time.

Abso-F***in-lutely. This was amazing in IMAX 3D, meh in regular theatres, and sub-par in cheap seats. Yes, I did see it in all of those situations.

I'll tell you why I hated it, because the one guy said the other guys name about 600 times in it. Rob, Rob, Rob, Rob, Rob endlessly. Aside from that and the stupid part where he went to the girls apartment it was ok.

I suppose to be more accurate just a movie a lot of people haven't seen because it was a bomb.

I liked the concept and story, but the movie made me violently ill, and I'm not usually affected by motion sickness.

To be completely accurate, it's a movie a lot of people should have seen, because it's da bomb.
