When American announcers say score instead of goal.
IE: "Shot and a score by ______!"

Things you want to ban in the hockey world
Diving... Biggest problem in the NHL today and I hate it sooo much. I have always hated Vancouver but when they turned diving into a facet of their game years ago... My hatred of them hit a whole new level. Diving has spread like a sickness from them and it needs to be stopped soon before it becomes like soccer and basketball.
How do u ban it? By using video review after games and applying brutal suspensions and fines to repeat offenders. I'm talking about 5+ games if it happens twice and 10+ games if it happens 3 times and so on. The hammer needs to come down hard on this.

-Player's salaries being public. Honestly its no one else's business how much they make. Instead of being measured on their skill/work ethic, fans judge players based on how much they make. Really no reason for any of us to know how much they pull in every paycheque other then to satisfy curiosity/stir emotions of jealousy.
-Diving. Only way to do it is to give a penalty to the embellisher and him only.
-Teams (aka Oilers) picking #1 overall multiple times. Not fair to the other non-playoff teams who don't get a chance to get an elite player.
-Fighting after a clean him. Give the instigator a 5 minute penalty and the other guy 2 minutes for defending himself.
-Lockouts

Diving - Stop calling the other penalty. If a guy feels the need to embellish something, even if there was an original call, he has negated said call and embarrassed himself, his team, and the game by diving like a fool. Two minutes and feel shame. I would also like to see repeat offenders be suspended for aggregious dives.
Fights after clean hits - You want to curb unecessary fighting while keeping it in the game? Automatic ejection for jumping a guy after a clean hit. The refs are close enough to the action to generally make a decent call on whether or not a hit was clean (aka, if one guy isn't getting a penalty for the initial hit and gets jumped, 5 and a game). Yes there will be mistakes, but its a subjective sport there will always be mistakes. As much as we harp on them, refs generally do a pretty good job.
Staged goon fights - Two goons fight off a faceoff for no reason? Eject them both. People may think these two changes would take fighting completely out of the game, but again, the refs are close enough to the action to know when a fight spurs from frustration and in-game tensions rather than a staged bare-knuckle boxing match. Give them discretion on the matter. They hear what the players say, know their histories, follow the pace/emotion of the game, if they deem a fight to be within the boundries of current game, or retribution for something dirty earlier on, fine. If they deem it to be two guys going at it just because they think the should, ejections for both players. No penalties, just get them out.
The Edmonton Oilers - Just relegate them. They're obviously not good enough for the NHL.
The Vancouver Canucks - That is all.

Actually the key change may not necessarily be in the standings, but in the way the games are played...and that makes all the difference (no more trying to hold on until OT, an incentive to win in RT)

I like this idea a lot.
Also, it's been said but the "intent to blow" rule. That is absolute garbage.

Yep. An essentially professional sports league operated for the entertainment of rabid fans and the profit of owners, using unpaid teenagers living away from home as the players, and where some of those teenagers are only on the team to punch other teenagers in the face, is wrong on so many levels. It's a national embarrassment.

Yeah, how many times have you said that? And I bet the result has never changed.

not to mention the joke of a "scholarship" that only a handful of kids are actually able to take advantage of. Not to mention the agreement (or lack thereof) between them and the NCAA. So a 19 year old can't decide to leave the CHL once he's realized he's not going all the way and get a chance to play some high level university hockey while getting education paid for. Or if an 18 year old played one CHL exhibition game 2 years ago and now he's screwed out of the education he could have other wise provided for himself? BS. It should be about what's best for the kids, not profit for the owners or protection of the leagues. I definitely encourage kids to take the college route if they can.

Also, get rid of Brendan Shanahan. Get someone that will actually give out harsh suspensions for cheapshots, then they might actually stop happening.

also with announcers... ban the ones that constantly whine and complain about a call that they disagree with. vancouver is obvious for this (since the league is ALWAYS picking on them), but i've also noticed the red wings announcers are pretty bad for it too.
it's one thing to say you disagree - that's fine, but to keep bringing it up over and over again thru the game and then bringing it up again the following game gets old.
