“@CzechFlyers: @RogMillions @mirtle Hudler had an argument with Hadamczik and he's been in coach's doghouse since then. Relations over success....”

Wow, middle school bull####.

How can you pride yourself on being a professional and then miss out on coaching a player like Hudler for such a stupid reason. I'm pretty sure you could replace Hadamczik with some guy off the street and still end up with a better hockey team if Hudler is on it.

While I agree with you to a certain extent, I don't get why Hemsky makes it over Hudler. They are both somewhat undersized playmakers. If they are going with a role players mentality instead of a best player available mentality, why would you take a crappier Hudler-esque player?

It's funny, I thought if any of the Czech flames were on the bubble it would be Smid. I can't imagine his average skating ability will translate that well on international ice.

Personal squabbles preventing him from playing? Are we sure that Hadamczik is not just a mispelling of Hartley?

Surprising that Hudler was left off the Czech team. He has played really well and would have helped the team a lot. Smid will be a physical presence on the back end for the Czech team.

The Czechs open the tournament Feb. 12 against Sweden
That will be a butt-whopping.

Under current IIHF rules, you can change national teams by acquiring citizenship with your new countrty and by playing and living in said country for one year. Its how Hnat Domenchelli ended up on the Swiss Olympic team in 2010 despite previously playing for Canada.

Also, agreed with everyone else. Leaving Hudler off is a truly myopic decision.

I know he is a rookie, but I am very surprised to not see Hertl on there either. Having a great year, even to come as an extra and get the experience for next time.

edit: Apparently this Barinka on D is horrible but married the coaches daughter?

Draaaaammaaaaa.

Hertl would have been named but is likely out for the year. He hurt his ACL and PCL badly and had surgery recently.

He's out at least a month after wrecking his knee in a collision with Jeff Carter. Just had surgery.

After this slump that the team is going through, Hudler is going to want to have a break from hockey.

Flames break out of their scoring streak and beat Colorado 4-3 tonight. Hudler scores all four goals. If Berra starts then the 4th goal will be in a shootout.

According to the Olympic Charter you can switch countries after waiting 3 years from the last time you competed for the original country. So Nedved would have been fine to play for another country after 1997.

http://www.olympic.org/Documents/olympic_charter_en.pdf

Quote:

A competitor who has represented one country in the Olympic Games, in continental
or regional games or in world or regional championships recognised by the relevant
IF, and who has changed his nationality or acquired a new nationality, may participate
in the Olympic Games to represent his new country provided that at least three years
have passed since the competitor last represented his former country. This period may
be reduced or even cancelled, with the agreement of the NOCs and IF concerned, by
the IOC Executive Board, which takes into account the circumstances of each case

There might be a 43-year-old playing for Finland.

Wow. Huds and Vrbata got jobbed.

The amount of time that Czech team is going to take to get up ice could be measured on a calendar. Nedved and Cervenka? Lol.
