So if he can't teach a veteran team, and the new GM does not think he can teach a young team, then what's the point?
Like i said in another post the next 20 games or so are going to be big for Hartely. Right now the Flames and Edmonton are playing the worst hockey in the NHL. Even Buffalo in their last 10 have gotten going at 5-3-2. If flames get 3 wins in the next 20 to go along with what they have done in the last 10 its going to be hard for him to retain a job for next year.

Yeah. I covered that in a previous post though, saying I think Hartley is more suited to this young rebuilding team than to a veteran team.
My thinking is just like Textcritic's right now. I think Hartley is close to perfect with this incarnation of the team. No rush to get rid of him. If the new GM wants to reassess in three years or so as the team is older and starting to compete at a different level, then I think that's the way to go. I could see the team outgrowing Hartley later, as we saw how he did last year, and that can coincide with the GM wanting to bring in a new guy. But for now, I think Hartley is doing a great job.
