Too many teams need something at QB, and with a smaller guy like Russel Wilson having the success he has, it will help a guy like Manziel because there is a comparable of a smaller physique guy excelling in the NFL. Now Manziels off field work ethic and Russel Wilson's...those probably couldn't be any more different.

If that is in fact the case....I do agree as the way they ended up with Christian Ponder, was pretty much doing that exact thing. If the guys who you like as first round talents go before you do what is reasonable to move up and get them and you are still picking 8th..and the next guy on your list is looking like a 2nd round talent or less I think you either explore a trade to move back, or target your guy in the second round. I think you can come up from the 2nd round a bit to get the guy you want, as teams who got a QB early won't be in the market for one come round 2.
|
That's what I'm saying. Essentially if they start to reach for a QB as high as 8th overall, they are putting themselves in the same situation as they did with Ponder. In that case, why not draft a defensive player who can make an immediate impact in the 1st round and draft a QB in the 2nd round.
Less pressure for that QB to be "the guy to change everything" and less expectation from the fan base.
As for Manziel, I think he will go in the top 5 to either Jacksonville, Cleveland or Oakland, barring some kind of pre-draft extraordinary event.

I have a very good friend that is a HUGE bears fan. So I asked Eddie to help me troll him and this is how the convo went.
Me: Hey want to help me troll a friend?
Eddie: how
Me: well a good friend of mine is a huge Bears fan
he stops me right there
Eddie: I'm in, what I gotta do?
Me: I have a picture of you scoring a TD against the bears in week 17. I want you to sign it "to kj from Eddie Lacy" and then take a picture with me and I am going to mail it to him to rub it in
eddie: lets do this
So I then sent my buddy a message that I'm sending him something from Alabama and don't open it up until his wife is there to record it. He has no idea what it is.
these are the pictures I sent
I hope that they send me the reaction

Philadelphia police say someone broke into a home belonging to Eagles star receiver DeSean Jackson and stole a handgun and more than $250,000 in cash and jewelry.

This is the map that Facebook.com compiled in 2013 using information on its users' declarations of the "favorite NFL team" in their profiles. The Browns have seen the Steelers and Bengals win over the fandom in much of Ohio.

Crap!
I thought he was coming to Detroit for sure and was just waiting for SD to be eliminated.
Lions have seen some garbage coaches and garbage seasons so if we end up with Caldwell as coach that is just mean. For the sake of Lions fans the league should step in and veto that if true.

What the hell has Caldwell done to earn another HC gig? At least Whisenhunt has an NFC Championship under his resume. If I'm the Lions I wait to see if I have a shot at Greg Roman.

Let's be real part of Whisenhunt's decision has to do with living in Nashville and not Detroit. When it comes to talent level its not even close.

This tweet says it all.....
@evansilva: Whisenhunt picks Jake Locker & Shonn Greene over Matt Stafford & Megatron. Something's up in Detroit.

Lions have hired Jim Caldwell. I mean it could end up being a great hire I guess? Never know I suppose, but on the surface this is one of the most uninspiring hires ever.

So the Lions went from a guy with no control to one of the most laid back guys ever?
I'm not sure Caldwell deserved to lose his job with the Colts; Manning had been carrying that team for a long time and without him they collapsed. No coach would have been much better with that roster.
But for the Lions I think it will all come down to the staff he assembles. He needs someone to help Stafford. And even with the talent on D they ranked 16th in the league so I would think Cunningham needs to go.

Vikings have a second interview happening right now with Mike Zimmer. I would not complain one little bit if he's the new coach of the Vikings.

Judge halts $765M NFL concussion deal as too small
http://www.cnbc.com/id/101323456
A federal judge in Philadelphia has preliminarily rejected a $765 million settlement of NFL concussion claims, fearing the sum may not be enough to cover injured players.
U.S. District Judge Anita Brody has asked for more financial details from the parties, a week after players' lawyers filed a lengthy payout plan.
Brody, in her ruling Tuesday, notes that the plan is designed to cover nearly 20,000 men for 65 years.

I don't know how to post YouTube clips but if I did that Michael Scott clip would fit nicely.
Really wanted Whisenhunt, talked myself into Munchak being a good second choice, would have been fine if Zimmer came in (although don't think he is a great fit) and now get the worst possible option out there.
I understand that Whisenhunt basically turned it down but that is no reason to go nuts and hire Caldwell.
