It is a Canadian player at the WJHC so all the high and mighty types have to go way over the top in their reactions so they can lament how awful and arrogant the terrible Canadians kids are.

Mcdavid's late shot was clearly an accident. I've always hated the macho culture of getting really bent out of shape over trivial stuff like that.

Disagree. Once he saw the linesman intervening, his path was directly for him. He made contact before the linesman had made it directly between the two players. After the contact he turned 45 degrees to his right to engage the Canadian.

McDavid, who is said to have the best vision since Crosby, didn't notice that the goalie was 10 feet out of his net?
I know everyone likes to defend the Canadians, but that was a disrespectful act by McDavid.

The goalie was still in his net when McDavid shot the puck, though he had straightened up a little.
They just said on the broadcast that there is no horn for the end of the period, which makes the mistake even more understandable. When the Czech player was coming after him, McDavid looked, if anything, surprised and confused.
Besides, what could McDavid's motivation possibly be? "I'm going to take a late shot. That'll really burn 'em!"

Sam Reinhart should tell every team that interviews him that he wants to play with his brother. We know how much Burke likes to put brothers together.

With the way the Islanders are playing, you might be right...

I'm not buying that it was a mistake. He was frustrated and took a casual shot at an open net. Given the history of tournaments like this, I'm a little surprised he didn't get a 2 minute penalty for it.
Not really a big deal in the long run, and it certainly isn't worth getting worked up over and labeling him with a ####ty attitude or disrespectful, but disappointing to see nonetheless.

Didn't the Islanders send their first rounder to Buffalo?

Interesting yet satisfying explanation of the 2 minute call to end the period.

Its 'lottery protected', so the Isles can defer it to 2015 if the pick is in the top 10.
