It's always the Canadians throwing dirty trashy hits in this tournament.

Looking at the American roster, I don't see JT Compher. Thought he might be their captain in Seiloffs absence. Wonder why he didn't make their team

Compher was cut due to a left foot injury sustained in practice while blocking a shot. Compher had his foot in a walking boot afterwards.

Leaning into the hit with the knee out. Little lunge at the end...ugly stuff

Looks worse in slo-mo didn't like the lunge out like that and thought it looked like he went straight in when I first saw it.
With him sticking it out like that I think the 5 was a fine call but still no suspension needed.

Yeah the intent to hit with the knee is pretty evident.
Probably fortunate for Karlsson that his hip took the brunt of the hit and it wasn't a true knee on knee collision.

Definitely should be suspended. If it was a Swede doing that to Drouin we'd be asking for a few games.

Dirty, dirty hit. Should be suspended for 3-5 games.

Wow. So why in the world would they take a guy who HAS to miss three games in a short, short tourney? Was he THAT much better than the next guy in line that they could have taken?
Seems like a really stupid gamble, and now if Dumba gets dinged they'll only have 5 D-men for the round robin. (Although I guess most of those games are against filler teams, but still....seems stupid)

Sutters final cut is Girad.
However where it gets interesting is if Dumba gets suspended, Sutter says he will not run 5 d men. So he would have to cut another forward or one of Reinhart or Dumba to make room for another d man

It will be interesting to see how the IIHF rules this. It wasn't knee on knee, the contact was more to the thigh. Suspect the Swedish player has a charley horse.
Dumba was totally OP off of the faceoff and tried to take the body, just made a bad decision on how to do it. Now he gets to face the consequences.

Because you can have 7 defensemen on the roster and he is back in time for the games that matter, USA and medal round.
And yes he is that much better than the next guy they could have taken.
I also like to think they did it to say F you to the IIHF for the ridiculous suspension he got and show them they will still bring him no matter how much they try and hurt the Canadian team.

Could you imagine if Dumba gets cut because of that play? I think if Dumba gets one game, Sutter will run five D men anyway. It's only Germany. If he gets put out for longer, it is the Czechs and Slovaks afterward.
