These examples are too basic. Why don't we get to the cases where there are two lanes approaching the stop signs. I am thinking specifically about the areas at the Sarcee Tr. Costco, but I am sure there are more instances of these.

I'm sure it's been mentioned...

...but the people who are making a turn in one direction (ex. right), and to do so they dirft or move quickly in the opposite direction first (ex. left) before making their turn.

Is it really so hard to know your car so you don't rub something out or go over the curb when you're turning? Really??

Really? What's wrong with it? Mine works perfectly, and it's on an RX350 which I would think would be more or less identical to the Rav4.

The conversation isn't about merging though. That is the right/courteous thing to do at a merge.

We're talking about cars that are stopped (either at a stop sign or red light) and waiting to make a right turn on to the road you're on. Do you move into the left for them? I think that's courtesy beyond reasonable expectation.

Thursday morning I did one of the worst things of my driving career

I had applied some washer fluid to my windshield to try to get some of the ice off, problem was it ran out of after one squirt, completely caking my windshield in ice, I literally had to stop along elbow drive in rush hour traffic and scrape my window(I couldn't see anything), I am lucky I was not rear-ended

so bad

Reminder: If you are wanting to turn left across a busy street, and someone in right lane that is backed up waves you through, don't just bull into the road, because the vehicle in the left lane is going to smoke you. And if not them, the vehicle coming the opposite direction.

Yesterday trying to leave Westhills Mall the car in front of me came to a complete stop, waited until the nearby traffic light changed so there were no cars in the other lanes, and then proceeded to stay in the right lane and turn right after anyhow - it's not like he was even going to change lanes right away and had to wait for an opening.

Similarly astounding is the number of people who either willfully or ignorantly choose to not recognize these signs. This is especially annoying where there large numbers of pedestrians crossing streets and making right-lane driving very slow due to drivers making right turns. I am looking at you, 17th Ave and 4th St SW drivers.

Yeah, you shouldn't be changing lanes in an intersection but if you are looking far enough ahead to see what's going on and can change lanes safely before the intersection, you should do it.

Most don't turn on taillights, or aren't sensitive enough to turn them on unless it's completely dark. Huge pain during snowstorms when the person in front doesn't have their taillights on.

I see this nearly every single weekday, without fail.

The driver of the rear vehicle cuts across the solid line at around 60km/h (signal optional), forcing left lane traffic to brake or change lanes suddenly, then flooring it so they can cut off (again, signal optional) the vehicle ahead of them, forcing it to brake and also slowing right lane traffic that is attempting to accelerate and merge.

Alternate: the driver of the rear vehicle cuts across the solid white line and two lanes of traffic at 60, accelerating to about 80 by the time they get into the left-most lane. Signal is - you guessed it - optional. The end result is a whole bunch of road rage filled left laners who had to slow down from at or slightly above the speed limit.

There is an inexplicable lack of ability, only thing i can think of as a reason, on NB Deerfoot where the right hand lane exits to Anderson. So frustrating the back up there all the time.

You do know that the 17 Ave/4 St SW left hand turn are time restricted right? Not all the time? Just wasn't sure by your post if you were aware. Cause its not just that sign, its that sign with times on it.

Yep. I couldn't find the right sign, and wasn't sure how to easily embed those streetview images.

When I travel those routes, the left-turn restrictions are in effect. That's why it's frustrating when you're expecting smooth travel and somebody decides to make a left turn. I mean, if there is no oncoming traffic and I don't have to touch my brakes, I don't care if somebody wants to make the turn.

Of course then there are people who want to make a left turn, so you change to the right lane to get around them, and the driver changes his mind and gives up.

Depends on whether there is a pedestrian island in the SE corner of the intersection or not.

If there is, the south facing guy has right of way.

If there is not, the north facing guy has the right of way.
In addition to this. If they are turning into two lane road, then they both have the right of way into their respective lanes. So many times you'll come to a yield sign where people will wait until the far lane is clear to go into their lane.

1) People who put HID lights in reflector type of headlight housing, blinding everyone the other way. Worst offenders those raised 4 x 4 trucks that blind drivers oncoming traffic as well as the driver immediately in front.

2) European cars equipped with rear fog lights that the owners turn on during perfectly clear nights, not reserving them for during bad weather condition (ie. fog), thus creating a distraction for following cars.

3) People who signal while they are making the turn, fearing that their light bulb will burn out faster.

4) People who throw trash out the window, especially the smokers.

5) Those drivers that cross the median to do U-turns if there is a traffic jam or an accident.

Why ? It clears out the cars and makes your trip quicker.

Honk!!!! These people need more shaming with the horn. I believe there's a no turns sign at ctr street and 4th Ave. There's always a jackass there turning left.

Merging.

What the #### is wrong with people. It takes two to merge properly. The person entering traffic: you need to speed up, signal, pick your spot and go.

The person in traffic. It is not a shot at your manhood to let someone that has done the aforementioned, to enter in the lane of traffic. You do not need to defend the honour of the lane.
