Some people need to step back and see the team for what it is. No elite players, no goalies with nhl experience, roster full of rookies. Guaranteed bottom 5 finish.
No coach could turn this weak of a team into a playoff contender. Who is this team going to throw over the boards to step Getzlaf and Perry? Matt Stajan and Chris Butler? Yeesh.
Also why do people in thread expect Hartley to not to stand behind his goalie? You don't tear down players in the media, good for Hartley for standing up for his players. That's what we need.

We have 1 rookie skater and 1 rookie goaltender on the roster.
This is a veteran team, not a rookie team.

Baertschi and Colborne are Calder eligible. I'm guessing Breen as well.

This is what most level headed people were predicting before the season started.
It'll get better over the next five years.

I'm not a hater at all, but the play by Chris 'silver platter' Butler was really deflating when we were down by two

So if Hartley eventually goes, does Feaster still pack his bags with him?

My Hartley doll is almost full of pins, but the Feaster doll still has plenty of space.

At this point I can't believe some people are upset over bad games. This team is terrible and has won more games then they should have already. People are saying that we should keep this player and keep that palyer because without them we'd.... oh ya, we'd be terrible. They are.
This team in in transition. We have to take the bright spots where we can and try to make the best out of a bad situation. This team can't be evaluated on what's supposed to happen in the next year or so, this team needs to be looked at in the big picture.
We knew things had to get bad before they could get better. Well this isn't even as bad as it gets. Temper your expectations and enjoy the game. Think of the future and look forward to it. Today's game wasn't even that bad. 5-2 to a border line elite team isn't too bad.

How about an actual NHL goaltender who isn't out of position after every other shot, doesn't cheat on the posts, and knows how to keep his angles?
The NHL isn't the place for Berra to be correcting these kinds of glaring limitations in his game.

No wideman - Glencross - Gio - Monahan is going to terribly knock a team down. From the start of the season we were a bottom 5-7 team and with the recent injuries we are easily a bottom 3 club.

Most backups in the league are better than either of the Flames so-called starters.
It would be nice to have a steady veteran presence in net, while giving the young guys more time to work on the fundamentals of their game without ruining their confidence. Like lifetimefan said, I'm not sure the NHL is the best place to work on basic positioning.
I wonder what Theodore is up to....

Need to play smart against bigger teams like Anaheim and LA.

Ramo hasn't had a start in three weeks (Nov 8). That was the second half of a back to back. Berra has been pulled twice in that time frame. He cracked the .900 barrier twice and kept them under 3 goals once. Even the elite goalies in the NHL don't have the ratio of starts that Berra has.
Clearly Hartley has an irrational hate for Ramo, an irrational love for Berra, or most likely both.

The Flames had 4 NHL rookies in the lineup today (Sven, Colborne, Reinhart, Breen), plus Berra, who doesn't count as a rookie.

If the goalie keeps us in it the Flames play harder for the win, soft goals deflates the team in hurry. Butlers pass into "no mans land" didn't help.
