I would not be surprised if the Stamps promote within.
As much as I don't like Kilam's STs, the next step for him would be a D coordinator, hes been with the Stamps for 9 years now.
Tony Missick and DeVone Claybrooks also candidates imo.

It would not surprise me if Huf gives Kavis Reed a look at being the new dc.

Sounds like DeVonne Claybrooks is the top candidate to take over as Calgary's DC.
I like it. Promote from within, he's familiar with everything and has worked his way up.

Flick buddy! I like and respect you BUT don't even joke about that. We already got rid of Feterik as an owner. Kavis Reed is a joke and I hope Huf don't even think about hiring that guy. I got a feeling Huf will promote from within. I am thinking Tony Messick but I wouldn't be surprise that he ask Tom Higgins to be Stamps new DC.

Tom Higgins would be an interesting choice. Claybrooks seems like a good candidate as well but probably needs a few more years of coaching experience before making the jump to DC.

@CFL_News:
Despite guys like Kirk Penton and Bob Irving saying its a done deal for Rich Stubler in Winnipeg, Calgary is apparently very much in on the sweepstakes at this time as well for the his services to become their new DC.

whoever the Stamps choose, it needs to be someone with a great knowledge base to move us over this losing hump and win the GC. Even if that means overpaying a bit for the next few years.
Stubler, Marshall and Higgins are all likely great for getting us over that proverbial mountain.

Very well deserved for Cornish. I'm far from his biggest fan but he was a stud this year. Hopefully there's a generation of younger kids out there looking at him and thinking they can be star football players too

surprising...I would have thought that Raonic would have won in a walk...but Cornish had a monster year, kudos to him!

What a massive honor.
I also thought Raonic was going to get the award and I thought Humphries had a shot too. However, Raonic will likely get another chance and with Sochi coming up, Humphries will have another opportunity too.
Wonderful stuff for Cornish.

Great for Cornish and by far the right choice in my view.
Not to make this a Lou Marsh argument, but since there is no thread, the Raonic merits seemed odd to me as it basically has Canada behind another 7-8 countries with better athletes at least considering he is at best the 10th best tennis player in the world and he did so poorly (for someone who is considered for the Lou Marsh award) in the Slams seems pretty tough to give the award to him.
He had a great year compared to other past Canadian Tennis players but is far, far away from being best Tennis player in the world and not even one of the top 5 best or in the argument.
I get the "depth of field" argument but I think Canada has enough athletes in deep fields that are the best in the world that we shouldn't reward guys for being better than past Canadians and compare what they do with others in their sport. If you are not the best in your sport or damn near close hard for me to see you as the top athlete in Canada.

I definitely don't disagree and I understand what you mean. I do think Raonic is a great athlete and a tremendous Canadian. I respect him a great deal for the way he conducts himself. His success at the Davis Cup and getting Canada to the semifinals was one of the country's greatest sporting moments of 2013. At the same time, he didn't win a Major title. His best run was at the US Open, where he nearly made the QFs after that five-setter with Gasquet. For those reasons, I understand why many polls (Sportsnet etc) selected him as Athlete of the Year.
I read your post and it got me thinking, so I asked some of my colleagues who they voted for and why. There are 11 votes in total for the Lou Marsh and I was able to touch base with a few of them. 3/4 that I asked picked Cornish for his utter domination and said he was tremendous game in and game out. They also kept in mind all of the weekly/monthly awards he received this year, as well as the MOP and MOC honors.
Sorry for derailing the thread folks.

Former BC Lions defensive coordinator Rich Stubler met with new Winnipeg Blue Bombers head coach Mike O'Shea on Thursday to discuss the team's vacant DC position.
No agreement has been reached on Stubler actually taking over as head of the Blue Bombers defence and he is also scheduled to meet with the Calgary Stampeders on Tuesday.

Calgary Stampeders just signed their 2013 first round pick from University of Texas-El Paso Brander Craighead to a contract. That's why I wasn't so concerned about losing J'Michael Deane to Ottawa.

Stubler doesn't stick around for long so DeVone can learn more from a mastermind and be ready to take over in couple of years.
Good hiring.
