Glencross is the Flames most recent iteration of Marty Murray.
That's all I've got for tonight. I hate Phoenix.

Arizona does have a high suicide rate.
As for the game, I didn't expect much given it was a back-to-back and against the Phoenix Coyotes no less. I sometimes forget about them and feel as though I want the Coyotes to do well, but when I see them play I am reminded as to why I don't want to see them succeed.

Probably the worst effort of the season, especially goalie wise.

While Macdonald did suck, I think we gotta remember he's not going to be any starter material. Everyone's bound to have a crappy game after not playing for a few games.
Glencross on the other hand. Dang, he's gonna make it hard for us to trade him. Maybe he only wants to stay in Calgary so he can go cowboyin'.
Defense felt poor without Gio. Hope he's fine as Brodie seems to be struggling whenever there's added pressure on him. Lack of muscle/size?

Awesome game. The flames are fast and I'm glad they have a new fresh identity.

If that was awesome I would hate to see boring.
And it's not just because the Flames lost. It was a boring game with almost zero atmosphere. I feel bad for those hockey fans in Arizona that want to see some entertainment on the ice.

What complete and utter bull plop.
If you ask me who I would cheer for between two defensively minded teams that win a lot of games in Phoenix and L.A. I would pick L.A. 100 times out of 100.
Squeaking out a boring win isn't the same as dominating your opponent with physicality and aggression and TAKING a win.
Not to mention that the trap isn't even real hockey and it's a dying playing style.

empty net goals skew the plus minus. That doesn't mean anything to me.

I was impressed with the way we played our way back into the game at 2-0 down. But ultimately we were undone by horrible positional play from MacDonald for the first and third goals.
Ramo has to be given a run now.

Not read the thread so might be repeating what has already been said. Just watched the game on pvr and what a boring game,if the Coyotes management are trying to sell that team to a new set of fans then they better not be using the excitement of hockey as their hook. I know it is Tippetts style but tough to score with 6 players in net.
Macdonald didn't impress me at all. He is very slow to react if the puck does anything but go straight at him, the first and third goals were prime examples. He may have been screened on both but even so, he looked at Ribiero both times before he reacted by which time the puck was in the net. If you go side to side on him you can pretty much guarantee a goal.
Loved Colbourne's (sp) goal, made good use of his long reach to finish the deke on Smith.
Overall a tough place to play on the 2nd night of b2b, especially getting in so late. Win some, lose some, onto Dallas.

This loss squarely hangs on MacDonald's neck. Overplayed every goal. Heck, he was in better position to make the save on the empty netter than he was on the goals he actually let in. When you're as slow and nonathletic like MacDonald you can't get caught out of position as badly as he was. Mad for some pretty easy goals for the Coyotes.
On the pace of the game and the entertainment level, that clearly is on the Flames as well. The only time the game was exciting to us Flames fans was the start of the third, when the Flames decided to skate and fight through the checking of the Coyotes. When they believed they had a chance to win they were fully engaged and made a game out of it. When they went back down they went back to trying to make the perfect play and allowing Phoenix to play their game, rather than forcing the play. Phoenix plays a brand of hockey we may not like, but it wins games and that is entertaining to the fans. A lot can be forgiven when there is a mark in the win column.

I'm starting to wonder if maybe Glencross was the player Burke wasn't crazy about and perhaps he's been approached to waive his NTC? If so, it could potentially explain his poor performance if he's upset with management. Other than that, I'm grasping at straws to explain his performance thus far this year.

I thought SOB was our best d-men tonight. He had some good rushes with the puck and made some excellent outlet passes. I really don't mind him as a bottom pairing guy.
