I know this is off topic and I'm not trying to put you in particular down or anything, but Calgary is a rich city. These 6 figure income jokes are getting to be pretty fricking lame. It was kind of funny for a few weeks after that "how much money do you make" poll a few months ago. Now it's downright annoying.
Most educated males my age (early 30s) that I know make over or close to $100k per year. It's not a big deal, it's not THAT much money. Let's move on please.

I stand, I shout encouragement at the Flames and scorn at the opposition, I clap, I throw my hands in the air and wave them like I just don't care.
I sit in the lower bowl...I'm a corporate type

the sport check zone is where its at. I would honesty rather sit up in the nose bleeds than in the lower bowl strictly for the atmosphere of the fans. During the home opener I spilt my beer all over the guy in front of me when david jones scored the game tying goal, the guy wasn't even mad and even offered for me to zamboni the remnants of my beer off his jacket. Now thats a great flames fan who you could rarely find in the lower bowl.

Players have come out and said an energetic crowd gives them a boost. There is the whole " its not the crowds job to motivate the team" which i dont buy. Sure its true, but if it helps the team why not cheer a little. Plus it creates a better atmosphere.
Cheering is a contagious thing imo. We sit down by the glass and cheer/stand up high etc. No doubt its not the same atmosphere as lvl 2 and 3, which is too bad. When we stand for a goal some ppl around us will stand up and the look on their faces is like "well if youre going to stand i GUESS i will too." If the building is getting loud ppl will tend to join in. Unfortunately the design and construction of the dome actually dampens noise. Look at the MTS centre-throw 15k in a little box, things will get rowdy.
We sit in one of rowdier sections at stamps games and its awesome. That said theres more to cheer for b/w helping the defence, good offensive plays, kick returns and covers.
Bit of a rant but im all for having a loud, hard to play in arena that opposing teams dread. I think back to the lean years of pre-04 revival going to games as a student and truly feeling like my friends and i were the only ones cheering in the entire place. Im sure others felt the same way.
Anyway heres hoping 19k+ read this thread and go bat shart crazy for 3 periods straight, standing the entire time.

This thread title sucks to keep popping up on the update.
I'm sure the majority of fans here are standing high-fivers.

No kidding. Not everyone in that age range pulls in that much. I think his comments should just say 'those who work in oil and gas'. That would be alot more accurate.

If a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear, does it make a sound?

My tickets are 2nd deck. We stand for flames goals, and we stand for opposition goals. This prevents opposing fans from high-fiving above our heads or otherwise being a general nuisance. If a Canuck fan turns around and finds him/herself eye level with my belly, he is much less likely to taunt.
