I haven't done an in depth study of each teams prospect pool but I would they are 2nd tier so anywhere from say 8-17 or something like that. They have a lot more quantity than quality in my view and I would give the edge to teams with higher quantity. I also tend to focus more on teams overall guys under 22 as that gives a better sense of future than just out of NHL prospects and in that regard the Flames are in the bottom half of the league.

What is it about Button and the scouts you don't like? You don't think there is a marked improvement in their ability by now? How about Weisbrod? Just curious as to how you see them. I USED to really hate Button. However, it was either a lack of experience in his earlier years, or a lack of support (the scouting department was tiny for a number of years). I really like him now, and would hate to see him replaced at this point. Flames also seem to be adding to it even now. Just an honest question - I just no longer see drafting and development being an issue at all (in fact, probably the only strength in the organization for me), and I just wonder how someone can really be down on it. Just history carried from the 90's through to at least 2005 (I notice an ever slight improvement from around 2008 or so and on, marked improvement starting in 2010).
For Button I haven't seen anything from him to indicate that he is a good judge of talent. I think the Sutter not letting him pick his guys is BS, he has been in charge for a long time with poor to awful results and the recent drafts haven't been very impressive so far either.

For Weisbrod another guy that doesn't really have much of a track record that is impressive and seems like he loves NCCA (especially American guys) players which I do not like or want to see much of on the team.

I haven't seen anything other than homer Flames fans pumping up guys that have done nothing in the NHL to really be all that high on drafting or developing lately. Maybe that changes soon but based on the track record of the guys we have I doubt that.

There should be a separate option for Moon in these polls: No One.

Calgary arguably has the best one-two punch in terms of prospects in the entire league with Monahan and Baertschi. If that is not quality, then I don't know what is.. The only other tandems that I can see that would challenge them would be Trouba and Scheifele, and Jones and Forsberg. In addition to that we hold the most dominant point producer in collegiate hockey, and a player who just so happens to be the most decorated prospect on the planet in John Gaudreau.

Very few teams can match that kind of top end talent at the "prospect" level(s).

Wouldn't use it but if Bingo wants to add it go ahead. I am more than happy voting for Klimchuk now and with the guys I voted for before.

barkov-Hubredeau, Yakupov-Nurse, Lindholm-Murphy, Grigorenko-Ristolainen, Murray-Wennberg, Reinhart-Strome.

Also probably put MacKinnon on his own at least at par if not above those two and Drouin fairly close as well but probably just below them.

Plenty of top scoring collegiate players have come and gone without doing anything at the NHL level. Plenty of teams have guys putting up impressive numbers that is why they were drafted in the first place.

I suppose it depends on your definition of a "prospect" but generally speaking Huberdeau and Yakupov are not classified in that category.

Plenty of CHL players have come and gone without doing anything at the NHL level as well. That does not change the fact that Gaudreau is at the top of his peers currently in terms of productivity and pure skill.

Either way, I personally put Calgary in the 5-10 range, so I guess we are not that far off. I just don't agree that Calgary lacks top end talent coming up through the system.

I would definitely take Baertschi-Monahan over Lindholm-Murphy and Grigorenko-Ristolainen.
