Another guy that still owes Darryl Sutter part of his paycheck.

Pretty good contract for 'Toker, especially considering he just turned 34 this year (which means he'll be 38 by the time it's done).

Also kind of funny that someone so concerned about the environment is now playing "Oil Country". I'm guessing this is just a ploy to secretly take down the Oilsands.

Of course this is a good signing for EDM, screw you Ference going to the darkside.
Feaster tell us you didn't get out bidded with all that capspace created.
4 years 3.25 per absolutely a fair and affordable contract.

No, he's not classy. He's a big time cheap shot artist. A good defenseman yes but this is the same guy that gave the Bell Centre the finger and then lied about it. The same guy that routinely throws dirty elbows and numerous head shots. So do you mean like Jean Beliveau / Mike Bossy type classy or do you mean Mark Messier / Chris Pronger type classy?

I think a big part of this signing has to do with Ference's character and what he'll bring the locker room. He knows what time of commitment it takes to win and could have a big impact on the younger Oiler players.

To be honest, I meant character type player. I know a lot of the fans in the cities that he played in, and his teammates loved him. Character was a better word.

Good for him, cashing in on likely his last contract. After what the Flames did to the guy, I don't blame him for one second. I hope he sees success up there.

Oilers will regret the deal by year two or three I think. Ference was a liability for the Bruins in the most recent playoffs.

Too Bad, I wanted Ference- but not at the money/term he got out of the OIL, good for him though.

So MacT has already had the good bad and the ugly.

The Good - trading Horcoff and not eating salary

The Bad - signing a No. 4 defenseman when in his prime, to a 4-year deal until 38 making over $3 mill a year

The Ugly - Boyd Gordon for $3 million a year to play on the bottom six

Not sure where all the gushing is coming from. Pretty mixed bag by the Oilers so far. Guess it beats being publicly rejected and humiliated from UFAs.

I think the Oilers are better than they were 24 hours ago.

By my math, that already makes MacT the best GM in Mulletville since Sather.

Also played a major part in the Don Fehr hiring. And the whole carbon neutral thing? I hate his politics. So glad he is not a Flame.
