Seguin drafted very high, still has lots of potential, not sure though if what you would get at 6th overall would be worth giving up as you just might be giving away the better player. To much uncertainty to throw the 6th into a trade like this. If there are other assets that could be moved then maybe its worth kicking tires at least.

Edmonton respectfully disagrees....

Why would they want to take on any big salary when it's part of the reason for trading him? Doesn't make sense.

I don't understand how they plan to add an all-star if they are moving Seguin due to salary considerations.

Yeah, dream on Boston

Another report: a top 3 and another 1st?

Are they on crack? I would much rater have any of the top 3 that Seguin - and I have always been a fan

Agreed, I don't think anything about trading Seguin makes sense, and they sure as hell aren't getting a top 10 pick and an all-star.

The need to move salary just went down with Horton telling them he's going to test UFA, if that's true and not just a rumour.

I could have seen a top 10 pick and a top 4 d man or top 6 forward + maybe a 2nd/3rd or other prospect

but that return is crazy, Chiarelli isn't used to trading with teams not run by Brian Burke

Okay, bringing it back down to reality for a second.
Would anybody be up for:

Baertschi, 22, + <---> Seguin

Or is Sven untouchable at this point?

Think that guy is out to lunch. I read a report that they wanted a top 10 pick and a top 6 forward.

I think this other guy saw top 6 forward and thought he would write All-star instead to make it look nice.

As others have said Boston can't afford an All-star in return.

To me, the Flames will be in a great position to make a trade like this a couple years from now when they are ready to turn the corner. They need to focus on building a strong stable of prospects, and at that point you can start dealing them for potential young all-stars who need a change of scenery for whatever reason. Making a deal like this now would require overpayment and deplete an area which is already a weakness, young talent. Once that area is a strength, let the sweet trades roll!

Bruins are too deep at LW, and the 22 probably isn't in the range Boston is targetting. I think Boston is asking for way too much, so likely Seguin is going nowhere.

I could see Mac T making a serious pitch. Taylor or Tyler, why not both?? Because you overpayed and you team is still a disaster!

Looking at Capgeek I'm actually shocked at the amount of 3 million/season+ contracts the Bruins have.

Yeah they're looking for pies in the sky.

It's not happening if those reports are legit. Chiarelli is being ridiculous.

They need to shed salary but want an all-star player coming back?

Seems counter productive

I'd also add that, with Horton not returning, the B's biggest need is on RW. If they move Seguin the RW becomes Peverley, Thornton, rookies. And Peverley is a guy they are probably trying to move. So I'd imagine they are gonna be trying pretty hard to get a RW or two in the near future.
