You'll miss his 50-70 points and his play making considering he seemed to be the only player on our team that could do those things.

Yeah Mike Keenan really got the best out of him when he turned him into a defensive stalwart, some players aren't great defensively, you deal with it when they play like Tanguay can offensively. Much better than the pile of nothing these two newcomers will contribute.

This trade is awful. We traded a decent 1st line/great 2nd liner for garbage.

And why now? Is there really a reason why they had to pull the trigger on this deal now??Could they not have waited to try and move Tangs?

Hate Shane O'Brien being included in the trade, not a fan of his at all.

Fan of David Jones though, style of play is Glencross esque. Overpaid at $4.0 million but he fills some holes (size, grit, RW) for this team.

Holy crap, Jones is on the hook for 4 mill x 3 years, that is a really bad contract. How is he worth the same as Hudler? Feaster really helped Colorado out here, who would you rather have as a competitive team, 3.5 Tanguay or 4.0 Jones?

All of a sudden this trade doesn't look as good, the Flames definitely needed to get more out of this than a simple player swap for eating that salary.

This forum is so eff'd some times. People bitched and complained that the Flames were small, old and soft. They get younger, bigger and tougher and they still complain

Next season is a wash anyhow, I really don't expect the Flames to finish higher than 25 or so to me it's no big deal that a disinterested player and an aging player are out the door.

The hope here is that Jones can maybe find some chemistry with someone and regain his old form. With regard to SOB, Flames need some bitterness (might be stupidity at times) in front of the net...SOB brings that.

Good trade for both teams. I'm happy.

David Jones has been a Flame killer the last couple of seasons. I hate O'Brian because he's a total A-hole. Always has been. It's why I hated him as a Canuck and an Av. Very happy he's a Flame. Average defensively, but he's there to add toughness.

I'm happy with the trade. More of the guys from the Old Boys Club gone is a plus in itself.

I get feeling a lot of folks on this board aren't aware of the ages of the players they follow and how performance declines with age. Tanguay is 33. Jones is 28. Sarich is 34. O'Brien is 29.

In two seasons Jones will be scoring more than Tanguay and Sarich will be retired.

This is the kind of deal rebuilding teams make.

Oh Calgary... This is awful. Tanguay may be a bit sulky at times, however he's a natural at putting up points. 2 Avs buyout candidates for Tangs + Sarich? Win for Colorado.

Third line of Glencross-Knight-Jones has some good potential either way you look at it.

We get alot more jam in Jones, need to be tougher to play against especially with young players in the lineup.

Since it's too late to sell high, we might as well buy low.

Jones is super overpaid, but so were tanguay and sarich.

Two wrongs don't make a right, but, feaster was able to escape 2 horrific contracts for 1 horrific contract.

Not bad.

Jay Feaster is single handedly running this team into the ground. Jones was viewed as a potential buy out candidate amongst Avalanche fans (3 more years @ 4million, wow) and Shane O'Brien is considered one of the worst defensemen in the NHL. It's going to be a looooong rebuild, especially with Feaster leading it.

Flames get rid of 33 and 34 year old players.

Jones is 6'2, 210, 28 years old, right-handed RW. Two 20+ goal seasons under his belt so far. 126 points in 272 career games.

Like I said, I am ok with this. /thumbsup
