Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg 1m #Flames President Ken King says the search for a new executive member continues. No timeline for it, he stressed.
Roger Millions @RogMillions 41s
In NJ.. #Flames Pres+CEO Ken King affirmed several candidates remain for executive position, following Shanahan declining chance.
Roger Millions @RogMillions 2m Experience critical says King..does that mean Burke, Dudley, or how. About Al McInnis?? With Shanahan out many names popping up. #Flames.
Roger Millions @RogMillions 17s Finally, King adds no timeline. However individual must integrate into Cgy, and Flame org. Must be well before Season begins.
Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg 2m
Interesting to note how King has referred to the Calgary Sports and Entertainment Group a few times since last Saturday.

Al was kinda pushed aside in St Louis when Davidson left and with the new ownership and new management. He was an important piece in the Davidson regime, not just a big name former player given a token title

The fact that you haven't heard about it does not mean it has not happened.
As to the people whining about how Shannahan must have turned it down becuase he would have ranked between King and Feaster, what makes you actually think that a vice president would rank anywhere but between the CEO and the highest manger that would fall under his portfolio?

MacInnis would make me happy.
IMO the best Flame of all time, plus he has experience from working with Davidson in St.Louis since his retirement.

No chance they bring in Burke for that position. The players, management, coaches, fans and media would speculate everyday if this is going to be the day that Burke moves from position and takes over for KK and Feaster.
Still think it will be Nieuwendyk. Granted Dudley makes sense because of the Feaster connection.

I really think the fresh thinking outside influence is something that Edwards really wanted. Both internally behind closed doors with a shakeup within the hierarchy, and, as a sign to the rest of the league with players and agents that the Flames are committed to change and shedding the reputation they are rapidly gaining.
The timing of his hiring was not a coincidence. It wouldve swayed some UFAs to consider Calgary...now that is out the window as I believe they are almost back at square 1...Shanahan was the guy and I think it is a bit of a shock that he turned it down in the end.

Just say no to Joe. He showed he doesn't know crap in Dallas and the way he left this organization still leaves a sour taste in my mouth and probably other long time Flames fans as well.

I don't think you will see Dudley and Feaster work together again. Dudley does have a pretty good track record of turning franchises around with his work in Ottawa and Tampa.

Another negative post by Ashasx. That's a surprise. If you are going to be full on negative at least stick to things that have actually happened.

How can anyone NOT want Brian Burke? Experienced and has built competitive teams wherever he's went. I would be ecstatic with Burke.

Agree 100%
I also think bringing in a guy like Burke allows for a smooth transition if they want to dump Feaster mid-year. When the flames hired Jay in the summer of 2010 I knew he was in line for the promotion and Sutter was on extremely thin ice. I think whoever they hire now is going to be ready to take over once they give Jay the boot which won't be until mod-season at the earliest. Let the new guy get a feel for te organization and the people in it so when he takes over he will have better knowledge of the scouts, prospects, players, coaches, management

I would take Burke in a minute but I have a very hard time believing that he would be willing to work under King. Is there even any hard proof that he and the Flames have talked?

I would love Burke also, but i dont see it happening. For starters i don't think ownership would get along with him. Also for the same reason i put in another post, is that if Burke came in and took the job that is on the table now ( sounds more like a sounding board type of position), it would be a huge distraction for everyone involved on when the shoe would drop.
What would be great is if Burke came in and had the power straight away and do as he pleases. That said i read an interview with KK and that guy is not giving up any of his power or titles anytime soon.
