I can only believe the same offer has been made to Florida. You have a 99.999999% chance getting Mackinnon at 1 or 2 so I don't see why Feaster wouldn't. Probably same reply from the panthers though.

Like the trade but fully understand why the Avs turned it down. They have plenty if quantity they need a stud more than a good prospect and maybes.
Would gladly add a Backlund or Baertschi but no way do you add next years first.

I'd make all sorts of offers and see what it takes. But, they probably have a better chance of doing the deal with the Panthers.
Roster players, prospects, picks, any combination should be up for grabs for MacKinnon.
|
I think that's exactly what Feaster said he was doing.. might as well find out which teams are willing to bend and what would be our best deal.

And then who do you take if Colorado takes MacKinnon? Barkov?

Thank god the Avs turned that down. The Flames need depth. Did fans learn nothing from the Iginla years? I want to see the Flames become the Bruins, not the Penguins or, god forbid, the Oilers. Keep the three picks and exploit this supposedly deep draft.

Feaster 'Ken I offered our three first round selections to Colorado for first overall.'
King 'And?'
Feaster 'They turned it down, but offered O' Reilly instead. '
King 'And? '
Feaster' That's why I'm here. '
King ' Jay, don't make any calls, I have a dinner meeting downtown with...< inaudible>see you later. '

Rome wasn't built in a day. Feaster and co. will do their best to ensure this team is a steaming pile of wreckage for years to come!
Daigle was once viewed as a franchise player once too.
In a sense I'm glad to hear what we heard tonight and the 3 firsts (or 1st and 4 2nds) will jump start this rebuild faster than pinning everything on a great young player.
Look at TB with Stamkos and Car with E Staal. Fantastic players but without a supporting cast they both finished in bottom 5.
Stock the cupboards and suck up the next 2-3 years. Do it the right way and don't take shortcuts.
I don't really see it as a short cut. Even with McKinnon on the flames next year they would have been a bottom 5 team.

I'm assuming the Flames would have drafted MacKinnon if they got 1st overall, right? If Jones does go to Colorado why not offer it up to Florida?

If I am Florida I take that.
But Calgary better make sure MacKinnon is there no interest in that deal if Jones is the guy they are taking.

Friedman said that the first 4 teams in the draft are not looking to trade down and like what they are about to get.

Everybody has a price....but I don't disagree with you. I 'm just saying I'm confident Feaster offered the same to Florida and got the same response.

If Flames can't make a reasonable deal for #1 then I think their best Plan B is to get Nichushkin at #6. He will be in the NHL next year and he's just a huge talent with size. Best Plan C is Monahan imo.
