Sounds to me like the BPA, period. He's a great-skating defenceman with a high compete level. This is the pick we got for Bouwmeester so I'm all for drafting a guy with a ceiling that could match or exceed what Bouwmeester brought to the Flames in reality.
The Flames would be heading into pick 28 with a top flight C and D already in the books. There are a number of great forwards on the board and one is likely to drop to 28, especially if an intervening team (WSH, VAN, MTL, ANA) is drafting by position for a D.
Walking out of the first round with a C, a D, and a F would be great and Morrissey is a far better D at 22 than any D we'd have a shot at at 28 IMO.
Already more votes in this poll than the #6 poll. Likely due to the three way race between Zykov, Morrisey, and Lazar. As has already been said, lots of good choices with one of these choices likely to be the pick at #28.
Should we take the leading vote getting in this poll or have another poll with only Zykov, Morrisey, and Lazar?
The emergence of Bumface and all choices receiving votes suggests that another poll with just three choices may have a different outcome than the larger poll.

This. In Monahan you have a top line forward. Adding Morrissey give you a potential top pairing/PP QB. The way the draft is panning out you have a decent chance of picking up a really good forward. Five players will be gone from that list next time the Flames pick. The chance all five are forwards IMO is slim.
Assuming we pick Monahon or Lindholm, I would be happy with either Zykov or Morrisey as I think the two glaring weaknesses in or prospect group are at RW and Puck Moving Defencemen. I would be thrilled if we got one of these guys. Lazar is a good pick too, he reminds me of Daymond Langkow, nothing pretty but he goes to the dirty areas and somehow ends up with around 25 goals a year in the bigs.
The Devils were going to take him at 207, but Bill's father, Bart 'Cheeks' Bumface, was not available to announce the pick. So they went for the slightly less famous alternative: Martin and Anthony Brodeur.
