I'm hoping it was just a simple misunderstanding where he mistakenly wasn't accounted for.

That, and thinking ROR was an elite center, would have lost a early 1st round pick and the contract would be been a nightmare in 2 years.

Forget what other teams thought about the loopholes in an offersheet, someone should ask King what the hell they were thinking attempting to trade a top 5 pick 4 years into missing the playoffs, after starting the season without a 2nd rounder.
The "it was our interpretation" argument is good for saving face, but I'd like to hear justification for that course of action being the correct one, regardless of dubious understandings of league rules.
What's the strategy involved there?

Was that for the lunch or the evening one? In the past, I've found that they usually have better food at the lunch than the evening sessions.

For all of the ones I've been to, he always something like that with a bit of a wink and smile. He knows people are going to post what is said online, and he chooses his words carefully because of that.

Possibly, but if that was an honest mistake there's no reason for Conroy to rip into Gio or Glenny.
For Hanowski, coming to Calgary and not knowing anyone and then not get invited out with the guys... that sucks. As an athlete growing up, I've been there before.

Same for both this year.

Sounds like there will be a lot of covert CPers this evening.

I wouldn't be surprised if the ~5'9 player was Shinkaruk. I know Hunter and he's closer to 5'10 then he is 5'11(his listed height) and he's built very solidly. Playing in the WHL with a willingness to get to(and score) from the dirty areas along with great speed and skating ability(considered among the best in the draft) makes him easily a prospect in that range.
I wasn't at the meetings, but I wouldn't be surprised if Feaster giving the small height was purposely not 100% accurate and more meant to be a general statement that they do have a small player that high on their board...when every other prospect in the 1-15 range in most lists are 6'0 and above except for Drouin(and Hunter).

I think the comments re: Backlund should also be taken with a grain of salt, as they have to negotiate a contract, and if they are overly effusive in praise, he will demand more

Even though I'm sure it wasn't done on purpose by any of the vets, at the very least it's a reminder that there is an expectation for them to take that extra step/time whenever it's applicable. Both of those players were/are obviously adjusting to having a higher stature in the dressing room after Iginla left but being really picky I think naturally not doing so is different from someone like Dion, who allegedly left because of a disagreement in leadership style from the Iginla/Regehr and co.(which he was proven right about). Changing the culture around the room is going to be big for how successful we are going forward and if Giordano/Cammy/Glencross don't deviate from the status quo established by the previous leadership group I don't think it's good for the development of the younger guys in there.
Going back to Dion, he went into the Leafs room and earned the respect of his teammates, coaches and executives very quickly. He changed the culture of the Leafs room and practices(right from the mouth of Burke and Wilson) and as the team transitioned to a playoff one had them 1:41 away from the 2nd round after many of them had never experienced the playoffs before. We need that kind of difference maker. It's why I'm beginning to think that barring surprises, if it comes down to Lindholm or Monahan we should take Monahan. I think Lindholm might have the better on ice-production of the two, but will be behind Monahan in terms of impact in terms of behind the scenes work and making the team click.

I'll be at tonight's session as well. It looks like CP will be heavily represented this evening. If you see some guy awkwardly staring at you, it's probably me trying to match you to your CP handle...I apologize in advance.

This afternoon, Feaster actually said exactly that. He also said it with regards to TJ Brodie.

Quick question for those that go. When it says the start time is 7pm or 12pm is that when they start talking or when they open up the food?

Just called CS quickly and they said most people start showing up around 6:30'ish - no real official time as to when doors open and stuff
