I am not saying what he said was right...it was complaining.
You have to look at the actual context of his words though. In the same interview he blamed himself for the loss.
Blaming reffs for the loss
Criticizing reffs for the loss
Accusing reffs of rigging game
All 3 of those will give someone a different opinion of the action and Ovechkins comments were primarily criticizing the reffs.

Lets not forget who was voted the biggest complainer in the NHL a few years back and someone who dives as good as the best (Crosby). The all time best was too many hats on the ice after Ovechkins hat trick.

Again, any reference to blaming officials of a series is wrong but its amazing how many people love to hate him when he is a top 3 most entertaining player in the league.

Perhaps when it comes to Ovechkin people prefer actually quality play and winning over supposedly being a top 3 entertaining player. The fact that his so-called entertaining play is mainly selfish, d-bag antics also could explain it as well.

He's the better player period. Ovechkin isn't even in the discussion.
