Haha, it proved that they were given the first two selections and chose the two series that will give them the higher ratings.

It will be surprising to see if this series will get higher ratings. The CBC always regionalized the Senators-Canadiens games to the Ottawa area and Quebec only when there was a split telecast at 1700h on Saturday. One year, the CBC did not even televise a game between these two teams, only SRC did.

With every game being staggered in the two series', but possibly a game on the second sunday, if neccesary, that's irrelevant cause they will all be national, no?

That is correct, all games will be nationally televised. The RDS viewership will definitely cut into the viewership just as diane_phaneuf said, especially if Bob Cole is calling the series. This is what CBC Sports tells its viewers why the Habs-Sens game are not shown nation wide.

Canucks in 5....i feel more and more that Sharks are heading to the path like the Flames did a few years back. This could be their last year in the playoffs making any noise with the current lineup.

The Canucks will win the embellishment battle, but lose the war.
I expect they'll amp in up a notch when Burrows screams clutches his back and screams "He shived me"

Thank god this series is on TSN, Id like to be able to watch the Sharks play and not have to listen Hughson salivate over the Nucks. Cuthbert is the best in the biz IMO so we can actually enjoy some unbiased commentary.

That's fine it's on TSN, but I hope we get Gord Miller and Mike Johnson and not Cuthbert and Ferraro.

Not a chance. Leafs/bruins and Sens/habs are the easy choices. You get the ratings juggernaut that is Toronto then an all Canadian match up in Eastern time zone. CBC is is the business of making money. To drive ad revenue, you need ratings. More people will watch those series over games that end at 1am EST and its not even close.
With these choices, CBC has 3 Canadian teams as opposed to 2.
For a guy who seems to be well versed in this kind of thing, it's pretty surprising you have this mentality.

I think San Jose can take this if their top guys play to their potential, which is a big if. In terms of clutch scoring, I like San Jose's forwards better, but they have lost some toughness and there's no way to tell how productive Couture, Marleau, Thornton, Havlet, and Pavelski will be.
With that said, my gut feeling tells me that the Canucks will win. I say Canucks in 6. I just don't believe the San Jose core group will put it together. I spent too many years thinking the Sharks are contenders and I just don't think they are.

There is a potential conflict that could bite TSN in the butt. I wonder what TSN will do if game 1 of the Penguins and Islanders goes into OT? The Canucks game is part of their doubleheader and TSN2 is showing an NBA playoff game.

Always show the OT. But they might switch the Western viewers to the Canucks game. That's my guess.

Scoring Winger

OR alternatively, move the OT to TSN2, and deal with the complaints from all 3 national viewers that gave a s$%t about the Felon Ball playoffs.
And as for the series itself, my head says the filthy Canucks, but my heart says Sharks in 6. Go Sharks Go!
